Threw a bucket of water over the patio as need to put another line of clothes out.

OMG it's unbearable here. 31 degrees today.

Even some of the sun-lovers admitted it was too hot.

Bumbags · 23/07/2019 16:48

35 degrees here on Thursday

I’ve got a hair appointment as well

MadisonAvenue · 23/07/2019 16:49

It's horrible here, I can't wait for this heatwave to be over.

alidew · 23/07/2019 16:49

I phoned my mum in Scotland, she's complaining it's too hot as it was 19C. I live in the SE and the car thing said 34.5C. Even our (Spanish rescue) dog is finding it too hot.

Parttimewasteoftime · 23/07/2019 16:52

Not able to do anything it's too hot here. Kids have finished school though least the school run is done. Cat hasn't moved much 🙀

BooseysMom · 23/07/2019 16:53

We have to get used to it peeps.. read the thread on climate change but be prepared to be depressed

Soubriquet · 23/07/2019 16:53

I’ll join

I’m hating this heat

I have a headache and I just can’t get cool.

My dogs are cross because they want to go for a walk, but it’s too hot for them to go out.

boredboredboredboredbored · 23/07/2019 16:57

God me too. Community nurse in a bloody hot car with a bloody hot uniform with bloody grumpy patients!!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 23/07/2019 17:07

boredboredboredboredbored

That sounds like the sort of punishment they should inflict on criminals. Soaring temperatures + full nurses uniform + hot car + hot grumpy paitients = confess my guilt.

I know! I hate to moan about the good weather but bloody hell its a struggle. A lot of the elderly really can't take it. Loads of mine have respiratory problems and this weather exacerbates it for them.

Only good thing is air con in the car and office plus my chilli bottle to keep water freezing!

Becca19962014 · 23/07/2019 17:20

It's well over 35c here now. Flat has evened off for now at 24c.
I will kill my neighbours if they even think about cooking today though!!

fortheloveofPete · 23/07/2019 17:20

Becca19962014 · 23/07/2019 17:20

Fairies claiming we are having a thunderstorm for next six hours.
Are we hell.
Clear skies!!

Becca19962014 · 23/07/2019 17:21

I'd happily confess to anything to make this hell stop!

cheeseislife8 · 23/07/2019 17:22

It's horrible! Currently lying directly in front of a fan. 33° here

RosaWaiting · 23/07/2019 17:22

Soubriquet I’m cross because I need a walk/run after sitting on the Tube and at a desk all day, but I think I’m only capable of watching TV!

NeedIceInMyBrain · 23/07/2019 17:24

Catherine thank you for the new thread. Your story about the poor bloody snail is like a symbol of this entire weather situation!!! It’s just horrific.

boredbored this is the mentality I mentioned before that society pushes on us, we must be grateful for any sunshine and in hot temperatures we must do some kind of celebratory dance in praise of the so called ‘good’ weather. I wish more people felt it was ok to hate it!

I can’t remember who said on the previous thread about shops turning the air con off because of complaints it’s too cold but that is just Shock Coukdnt they at least just turn it down?!

I have so much sympathy for hospital staff and patients, why on earth are we not using air con in this country? It’s very standard in other hot countries or even just countries hot in Summer, like us.

It’s definitely a mentality here, I’ve seen so many people also in coats and long sleeves over the past few weeks. Yesterday morning my mum was saying “Oh hasn’t it gone cold, you need to wrap up” because I had a sleeveless top on, sweating buckets. For a lot of people the focus is on keeping as warm as possible, no wonder this is heaven to a lot of them!

Hope everyone who suffers on this thread is coping ok, Becca I’m thinking of you.

RosaWaiting · 23/07/2019 17:24

Much love to all the nurses and carers

My late father did hospital in these temps, he coped all right but a couple of patients were delirious from heat rather than their illnesses, poor guys.

Becca19962014 · 23/07/2019 17:32

need it was me who mentioned the air con being turned off and they'll be really regretting that as its hit over 30c this afternoon.

I've looked on lightning maps for these supposed severe storms we are supposed to get and there is one at the moment over the channel near jersey but that's nowhere near where I am.

Becca19962014 · 23/07/2019 17:34

I've spent hours in bed today and had seizures and my joints are killing me.

Fucking had enough. It'll never cool enough for tomorrow to be bearable.

lololove · 23/07/2019 17:36

People are stupid. No such thing as too cold right now! The poor shop workers having to put up with it because some idiot turned it off!

lololove · 23/07/2019 17:36

Hope you're ok becca!

bigpawsnopaws · 23/07/2019 17:48

I work on a hospital ward and it's unbearable. Yesterday I refused to wear my uniform as it was too hot. I wore a scrub top which was abit cooler. We have to wear shoes and socks and the windows don't open either 😓

LoafOfSellotape · 23/07/2019 18:11

Hello, signing in! Thanks for the new thread Smile

NeedIceInMyBrain · 23/07/2019 18:13

Ah yes becca I remember now, yeah it’s absolutely ridiculous isn’t it turning it off because of idiots claiming it’s too cold. It’s so not fair on the shop workers to have to endure those kinds of temperatures in claustrophobic uniforms - it must be hard to concentrate.

I went on a bus yesterday and it honestly was like a sauna- and it stunk too!!! The poor driver was melting, surely it’s not safe to drive in those conditions without air con? I can’t believe the hospitals are still forcing staff to work without it and patients to try and recuperate without it.
Honestly if I was part of a working environment that had no air con I’d be trying to do something about it, petitions/strikes etc. It’s just not safe or fair Sad

Becca these thunderstorms are nowhere to be seen. I’m in the Midlands and we also had them forecast for all afternoon but there’s absolutely zero chance of that looking at this sky! Why do they never happen when predicted but the blazing hot sun forecast is ALWAYS accurate?
