Threw a bucket of water over the patio as need to put another line of clothes out.

After that I'm getting the frozon hot water bottle out the fridge and going to lie down.

Thanks for the new thread!

AllGoodDogs · 23/07/2019 18:16

The flying ants are out in force today. Clouds of them when I went clothes shopping today. DH did buy an electrified tennis racket fly swatter today (called The Executioner on Amazon if anyone is interested) so I've been keeping busy.

flapjackfairy · 23/07/2019 18:20

I am in a side ward with my 5 yr old on an EEG monitor for up to a week. We are therefore stuck in one room for the duration and the aircon was broken and it is all glass windows and like a green house. We have huddled together under a fan for 36 hrs or so but saints be praised one of the nurses got it working a couple of hours ago. I will love her forever and hopefully we will be able to sleep tonight now.

Hellishot · 23/07/2019 18:29

Thanks for the new thread.

Hospitals should be priority for air conditioning. I just simply can't understand how anyone can possibly recover or work in one right now. Apparently we don't have maximum safe working temperatures in the UK?

Hellishot · 23/07/2019 18:32

@flapjackfairy, I'm sorry. I hope your dc will be ok.

Princessfaffalot · 23/07/2019 18:37

Signing in to grumble. It’s. Too. Fucking. Hot.

Our husky is stroppy. He’s had several frozen hot water bottles, loads of ice etc. He’s stroppy. But I’m stroppier. I haaaaaate this. I’m in west London, currently 32 here, will only be 29 by sundown and mid twenties all night. We might get a bit of rain and 2am but I doubt it. Arrrrrgh. Roll on Friday when it’s meant to break.

spiderlight · 23/07/2019 18:52

There is no AIR!!!

RobinHobb · 23/07/2019 18:57

Thanks for the new thread
Cooing down slightly now but awful headache
One more day down till Friday
It won't be cool next week but at least it won't be bloody 37 degrees

I hate it, never been a summer lover anyway, back of my house faces south so garden is unbearable.
Yesterday had an invasion of flying ants around patio door, fortunately college teen was home and got rid of them.

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 23/07/2019 19:03

Thunderstorms my arse!

It's 7pm and still 30° here. This weather makes me miserable.
Where has all the air gone?! I honestly feel like I can't breathe.

PantsyMcPantsface · 23/07/2019 19:06

Still one more day of school runs to go here - the kids are absolutely melting, the school have gone into extreme temperature management mode (no uniform, letting them stay inside if they want to at breaks, only using the shaded parts of the playground etc) but the place is absolutely boiling.

And next door's got his twatting parrot out in the back garden again so all I can hear is the fucking squarks.

bookworm14 · 23/07/2019 19:07

I’ve found my people. This weather is fucking horrible. 37 degrees in London on Thursday, apparently - I can’t believe anyone can actually enjoy heat like this.

fortheloveofPete · 23/07/2019 19:11

Thirty fucking one degrees.

What the hell? It's gone 7pm. Why is it still so sodding hot?

Becca19962014 · 23/07/2019 19:15

Still over 30c here too.

Every fucking app has a "severe weather warning for thunderstorms and downpours" in fucking force. WHY ARE THEY TORTURING ME????

There's no way. None whatso fucking ever it'll be 21c tomorrow now. I'll never last until fucking Friday. Feeling really ill.

Becca19962014 · 23/07/2019 19:16

The thunderstorms are MOVING AWAY!!!

Quick, someone stop them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LoafOfSellotape · 23/07/2019 19:22

Thunder due here but only 20% chance of rain.

KindleAndCake · 23/07/2019 19:27

Its tooooooo hot, I hate it 😪

CookPassBabtridge · 23/07/2019 19:30

Been inside all day and glad there's no school runs to endure. All I can think is thank christ there is an end in sight, last year wasn't it like this for 6 weeks or so.. My forecast says 21c from saturday and for the forseeable and I can't bloody wait!

Becca19962014 · 23/07/2019 20:35

Fairies have decided it was 31c today, it was definitely more than that though.

Still getting "severe weather warnings for thunderstorms"

Hello??. It's actually hot enough to be a sodding severe weather warning!!! But nooo can't have that can we.

Angry

Well I would be if I didn't feel so fucking ill and boiling bloody hot.

COOL DOWN ALREADY!

Migraines and seizures today. Desperately need sleep but if I even attempt it now I can't have meds and will be up with hypos.

LoafOfSellotape · 23/07/2019 20:48

Breezier here which is heaven ,bedroom not too hot so might be able to sleep tonight, hope so as I'm getting a headache. I have all the doors open now it's cooler. Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight x

Starksforthewin · 23/07/2019 21:07

Becca, I'm sorry you are so unwell. To have to deal with the heat with your additional challenges must be very hard going.
You mentioned on other thread about having to get a food shop. Could you go for online shopping with home delivery?

I've just ordered a delivery for Friday. I am not going out in this! Thursday is predicted to be 99 degrees here!!

We have AirCon upstairs and I know how lucky I am but the downstairs is still horrid. I am virtually camping out in the bedroom. Crazy. Life goes onto pause when the weather is like this.

I cannot understand people who prefer this to a temperate day when one can actually move around and live life!

peridito · 23/07/2019 21:14

We're in the top 2 floors of a house on a main bus route in London . it is hot .

I've got lengths of shade cloth ( bought from Bunnings before they closed over here ) draped on the outside of my windows .It looks very unattractive but I think it helps a bit when the sun is beating down .

Not reached the heat levels here of last year .IMO .

Becca19962014 · 23/07/2019 21:20

I can't get food delivered too rural. I can't get meds delivered either and must go every day.

Thursday here has now dropped to 25c. Today was supposed to "only" get to 26c but far exceeded that.

99% I won't be going to appointment tomorrow.

Some pieces of shit have begun trolling me on Facebook about being ill in the weather. Why bother? Seriously. I had the same on here last year. It's been over 10c higher today than it was on this day last year.

ItsAlrightAlright · 23/07/2019 21:44

@CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook Tell me more about a hot water bottle in the freezer! Do you get lots of condensation on the outside? Will it make my sheets soggy?!

igotdemons · 23/07/2019 21:58

It’s 28 degrees in my hall at the moment and other than just leaving the front door wide open, there is no where for the heat to escape! 🥵 It’s so stuffy, no wonder the cat has decided that lying under the hedge all day has been a better option (wish I was small enough to escape with her!). Every time I braved the outside to check on her, she was lovely and cool 😫 So jealous, I was made for cold weather. Right now Autumn just seems too far away... 😢
