Morrison's - what is better from there than anywhere else?

We don't have a Morrison's nearby but will pass one on way home from a night away so will do our weekly shop there.
We'll just be getting stuff we need for the week, but then wondered if there is anything you all think is better from Morrison's than anywhere else?

Plants, they usually have a plant of the week for £1, climbers under £2. Organic chicken is better value than other supermarkets. Wonky veg!

JessicaPeach · 22/06/2019 09:42

Plants and meat. I find the fruit is always really short dated in our one and they never seem to have many yoghurts!

Terrysyogurt · 22/06/2019 09:43

Meat, fish counter.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 22/06/2019 09:43

Thank you both - I would never have thought of looking at plants, definitely will now!!

Their deli counter is usually very good. And their fresh salad pasta bits are too. I like Morrisons always spend too much though. Not because it’s expensive but because it’s all so nice.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 22/06/2019 09:44

@Terrysyogurt thank you too.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 22/06/2019 09:45

Pizza

MustardScreams · 22/06/2019 09:45

Their meat and fish are excellent. They regularly do obscure cuts you can’t find anywhere else so it’s great for trying new recipes.

They have a really good ‘world food’ section as well. Only place I can find gochujang for kimchi.

BlueMerchant · 22/06/2019 09:46

The hot food counter. The ready done roasties, chickens, sausages and chicken pops. Kids choose something and eat it on the way homeGrin.
Also like the fresh breads from bakery.

BlackboardMonitorVimes · 22/06/2019 09:47

They do the Spanish ailoli comes in a yellow tub near to the homous and dips.

They currently have 1kg packs of cherries for £4 which are lovely.

Their grapes are good.

Try the Morrison's own brand nice crisps.

BiscuitDrama · 22/06/2019 09:47

Sofrito if you normally shop at Sainsbury’s.

Terrysyogurt · 22/06/2019 09:47

Forgot the plants, I always buy a plant when I'm there.

Mildpanic · 22/06/2019 09:49

I think there own brand horseradish and tartare sauce are better than anywhere else.

Lamentations · 22/06/2019 09:49

They do a nice whole grain muesli. They used to do the best kabanos I've ever had on the deli but ours has stopped. Free range chickens are often on offer so are on a par with Aldi price wise.

And a random one. I bought their own brand carrot cake making kit to do a last minute birthday cake for DH once. It was amazing. I've bought that a few times.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 22/06/2019 09:50

I am so glad I asked this question! Thank you x

They're rolled pork loin was always fabulous!!! Most of their meat is really good quality, I miss living near a Morrison's.

TigerBreadAddict · 22/06/2019 09:51

Tiger bread 😁

LuLuLuLuLooooo · 22/06/2019 09:53

Own brand premium dried pasta. Interesting shapes, and lovely texture when you've cooked it.

I rarely go though, as the one near me is vile. A shame.

Lllot5 · 22/06/2019 09:53

Oh I forgot yoghurt coconut and Greek with honey.

BertrandRussell · 22/06/2019 09:54

Bread. “Finest” ground coffee. Own brand cat food (I have this on good authority- not personal experience)

c75kp0r · 22/06/2019 09:55

The wonky veg box is a hilarious lottery if you do an online shop - one week you can get great things like leeks and savoy cabbage - another week I got three swedes and one carrot, one onion and few spuds. To be fair you can be pretty sure if you order it in winter there will be at least one swede in it.

They sell things that other shops round here don't stock - eg. real marrows in the autumn, soda crystals, kidney, proper shoe polish in a tin. I don't know why tesco /asda etc feel that people don't want these things anymore. Though hat tip to Sainsbury's for stocking cream of tartar (which Morrison's, Asda,s Tescos didn't have).

WalkAwaySugarbear · 22/06/2019 09:55

Steak pies from the bakers are amazing.

senua · 22/06/2019 09:55

Sausage rolls. They are my secret vice!
Next to the hot food counter they do mahoosive sausage rolls, 2 for £2. The meat is good - the texture is that of real meat, not unidentifiable munge - and the pastry is lovely - crisp and not greasy.
They do orthodox sausage rolls but also fancy chorizo or toulouse sausage, too.
