Morrison's - what is better from there than anywhere else?

We don't have a Morrison's nearby but will pass one on way home from a night away so will do our weekly shop there.
We'll just be getting stuff we need for the week, but then wondered if there is anything you all think is better from Morrison's than anywhere else?

Their childrens' clothes are great - good quality & a bit different to others.

Thrupennybrit · 22/06/2019 10:53

Their korean stuff is Ajumma

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 22/06/2019 10:55

@ExsandOhOhOhs and @womaninthedark it was a genuine question, I don't work in retail or marketing.
You are such a cynical lot, has really started to put me off posting on MN

I really like their fresh cream cakes. They do a multiperson chocolate cake filled with fresh cream for about £2 something. Yummy!

SospanFrangipan · 22/06/2019 11:02

Their bakery sausage rolls 😍

FortunaMajor · 22/06/2019 11:05

The pork and caramelised onion pies with the lattice top from the deli section are amazing.

AnnieOH1 · 22/06/2019 11:06

Their Yorkshire reared beef (every cut) is worth going out of your way for. The butchers department also sells a lot of irregular cuts. Stuff like Denver steak, kidneys, heart, tripe. They also regularly stock turkey meats like escalopes, legs etc. Oh and rose veal.

They stock Longley Farm dairies which is simply the best cottage cheese ever. Thick and creamy, not sour. Lovely. Similarly Longley's yogurts come in a huge range of flavours that others simply don't stock anymore.

Nutmeg clothing is fabulous for kids and they've started on a women's line now too. Certainly the kids stuff is hard wearing and doesn't look cheap iyswim.

The seasonal aisle is usually worth a look.

All that said I don't particularly rate their own brand products. Maybe they've changed from 8 years ago but certainly when we tried them I didn't rate any of it. Cleaning, tinned tomatoes, kitchen roll. If we ever go in for that stuff I end up buying branded.

Tiger bread and baby clothes.

MOB247 · 22/06/2019 11:18

I love the fresh stotties and bread from Morrison's! They egg custards and fruit tarts are really good too !

werekitty · 22/06/2019 11:18

Pork or ox cheeks, I can't find them in any other supermarket. The croissants are delicious.

YesQueen · 22/06/2019 11:51

If they have the clothing range then the women's harem trousers are great, no baggy crotch and a decent length

PuppyMonkey · 22/06/2019 11:54

I love their doughnuts and steak pies. Their olives are the best too.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 22/06/2019 11:58

Sliced bread, loads better than any branded or other supermarket bread. Meat. Fresh pizza

AnnaMagnani · 22/06/2019 12:03

Longley farm dairy stuff.

If you live in an area where most supermarkets don't have much world food stuff, then their world food section is better than everyone else's. Lots of Polish dairy, kulfi, that sort of thing.

More interesting bits at the butchers section if you don't just want the average chicken thighs, mince etc.

rareappearance · 22/06/2019 12:27

I sometimes stop off on the way home from work just to buy their carrot cake. You get it in the refridgerated cake bit at the bakery. It's the most amazing carrot cake I've ever tasted

HippyChickMama · 22/06/2019 12:32

Cheese and onion pasties from the counter, chocolate chunk shortbread from the bakery, our local Morrison's has an American food section that sells Reece's sweets and Lucky Charms. Also, if I take the dc out for lunch we often go to Morrison's cafe because they like the sandwiches.

bodgeitandscarper · 22/06/2019 12:35

Most of The Best range is really nice and on a par with M&S.

Q1w2e3 · 22/06/2019 12:38

Brittany butter with salt crystals - delicious

Macca84 · 22/06/2019 12:39

The 'fresh ideas' meals that are 2 for £5. They're lovely and ideal for taking to work for lunch

Hairyheadphones · 22/06/2019 12:41

It’s already been mentioned but the chicken pakoras from the fresh deli counter are great, we love them so much at the moment!

EskSmith · 22/06/2019 12:44

Trio of olive tapenade and bucket of Mediterranean olives.

ShirazSavedMySanity · 22/06/2019 13:24

Best chicken pakora from the deli.

Braiding steak to shove in the slow cooker is amazing and well priced.

TheFatberg · 22/06/2019 13:29

The green dome cake with custard and fresh cream inside.

youllhavehadyourtea · 22/06/2019 13:33

Cannyhandleit · 22/06/2019 13:35
