Do you iron?

We don’t do any ironing except for the odd formal item. I probably haven’t used my iron for 6 months.

My DM is very shocked by this.

Do you iron & what age bracket are you? I’m in my 30s

OP posts:
Hedgehogblues · 14/03/2019 20:44

Nope. That's what my tumble drier is for. Am early forties

ValleyoftheHorses · 14/03/2019 20:45

41, DH 44. Yes we iron most things unless tumble dried so ok to just fold.
DH does most of the ironing. I sometimes do a bit on my day off.

Doje · 14/03/2019 20:45

Nope. I have one dress that 'needs' ironing. I don't wear it much.

Ellieboolou27 · 14/03/2019 20:46

Not very much - in fact it’s been about 2-3 weeks, early 40’s and have definitely got worse at ironing with age!

AfterSchoolWorry · 14/03/2019 20:46

I'm hitting 50 and I don't routinely iron.

Just the odd thing. Who has time to iron? Confused

dementedpixie · 14/03/2019 20:46

Age 45

Only iron school clothes and dhs work shirts

Easterbunnyiscomingsoon · 14/03/2019 20:47

Age 47, 6 dc at home. Iron uniforms only.

lucysmam · 14/03/2019 20:47

School shirts only here. (Late 30's)

Delatron · 14/03/2019 20:48

I laughed when DS aged about 5 saw the iron and said ‘what’s that?’!

DH sends shirts out to be ironed. I work in fitness so sports gear: non iron. Very rarely I’ll iron. Life is too short for an ironing pile.

Delatron · 14/03/2019 20:48

I don’t iron school shirts as they wear jumpers over the top!

Wellit · 14/03/2019 20:49

Mid 30s and do not iron. Maybe for a funeral but tbh I don't think I own anything (like a shirt) that would ever really need an ironing!

dementedpixie · 14/03/2019 20:49

Mine don't wear jumpers at school

dairymilkmonster · 14/03/2019 20:49

Iron rarely, maybe once every 2-3mo. Save up shirts. I'm lucky DH job only occasionally requires a shirt, don't iron school shirts (m&s non iron ones)
PIL iron everything, inc hankies. They put aside a half day a fortnight to do it!

dairymilkmonster · 14/03/2019 20:50

sorry, mid-30s

Bluebuckle · 14/03/2019 20:52

30, I never iron, I don't even own an iron!

Speakeasy22 · 14/03/2019 20:55

I used too - a lot - then someone told me you don't need to... And it turns out that you don't! Clothes look fine. And I don't tumble dry either. Give it a go!

DaedricLordSlayer · 14/03/2019 20:55

nope, I do own an iron and an ironing board but I can't remember the last time I ironed something, school shirts are folded straight out the tumble drier.

DaedricLordSlayer · 14/03/2019 20:56

40s BTW

Arowana · 14/03/2019 20:56

Mid 40s. Nope.

GrumpyOldMare · 14/03/2019 20:57

Of course I do.
Work stuff, tea towels and bedding etc.
Can't imagine not doing those things at least.
Yes I do own a tumble dryer but hate using it.

GrumpyOldMare · 14/03/2019 20:58

Oh,I'm mid 50s

soontobefour4 · 14/03/2019 20:58

I'm 3 and iron as little as I can get away with. DH's work shirts and trousers plus the odd t shirt, top etc. If it's passable without being ironed it gets folded straight of the airer. I hate ironing.

My DM would be horrified. She irons EVERYTHING- bed linen, DF's boxer shorts and hankies. She always has a mountain of ironing and wonders why she can't get on top of it Confused

fleshmarketclose · 14/03/2019 20:58

I'm 51, I iron everything but towels, pyjamas, underwear and bottom sheets. I find it quite relaxing tbh, I stick on an audiobook and it is soon all done.

Drogosnextwife · 14/03/2019 20:59

I am 28 I have 2 kids and I rarely iron unless someone is wearing a shirt. I always iron the kids school uniform though because that looks awful if it's not ironed.

soontobefour4 · 14/03/2019 20:59

Whoops, I'm 3, not 3. A 3 year old shouldn't be in charge of an iron lucky.
