Do you iron?

We don’t do any ironing except for the odd formal item. I probably haven’t used my iron for 6 months.

My DM is very shocked by this.

Do you iron & what age bracket are you? I’m in my 30s

Nope!

I have iron dry on my dryer which makes them look okay and if you get it straight out the dray while hot and hang up they look fine.

I'll iron for formal occasions but to be honest, I can't be bothered! It's a waste of time. I'll never understand why some people iron PJs whne no one sees you in them.

Felicia4 · 17/03/2019 20:46

Nope. My iron was used once last year and not by me or DHGrin

snowone · 17/03/2019 20:51

Yep - mid 30s and iron work clothes for me and DH and school uniform for DD. My DM irons everything.....including under pants and tea towels Grin

Frazzled2207 · 17/03/2019 22:21

41 and only certain things very rarely. All school uniforms are fine if shaken and hung properly to dry.
The fact that I don't iron gives my mother nightmares.

When she is here by herself with the kids I sometimes find all the kids stuff all ironed when I get back!!!Hmmshe must bring her own, we have one but not sure where it isSmile

KennDodd · 17/03/2019 22:24

Only Hama Beads.

JerryGiraffe · 18/03/2019 18:12

Not bedding, towels or undies (to my mother's horror) but I always iron clothes, I can't stand wearing creased clothes. I understand some people don't want to iron, and I absolutely hate it, but I just have to do it!

TapasForTwo · 18/03/2019 19:35

I hope you non ironers are proud of me. I did a wash today and didn't iron any of it Grin

Disclaimer - all the clothes were informal and not at all smart.

strathmore · 18/03/2019 20:10

No. I haven't ironed for at least 10 years. Everything except underwear and pyjamas is dry cleaned- simple,

thelonggame · 18/03/2019 20:31

I iron, can't imagine not doing it. DH work shirts/trousers and my work uniform just couldn't get away without ironing.
Also bedding and most t-shirts.
Takes less than an hour a week, and I watch netflix or iplayer, hardly hard work.
Why is it fashionable to not iron, I don't get it?

thelonggame · 18/03/2019 20:31

and I'm early 50's

userxx · 18/03/2019 21:07

@thelonggame I wasn't aware it was fashionable not to iron. I just don't see the point in it so don't.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 18/03/2019 21:18

All of our clothes are washed and dried, mostly on racks in the garage, some tumbled. They are mostly fine and quite presentable.

I wish I ironed more, but I'm generally very lazy and time starved. I love the feel of freshly ironed bed linens, especially pillow cases. I love an ironed dish towel. I love to look at a pile of freshly ironed, folded clothes. Not quite enough it appears.

I iron tablecloths and napkins quite happily for big dinners. I happily iron everything to go in my suitcase for vacation. I iron all my bed linens after their first (and maybe second) wash. That is about it, really. I have too many clothes, so just rotate those that need ironed to the back and think "must get to them some time."

I did sort my drawers yesterday and made a stack of quite nice tops to be ironed and worn. We'll see.

DH irons all of his shirts a few times a year, in a hot frenzy of neatness. That's about it, other than for holidays.

Jaffacakebeast · 18/03/2019 21:21

Not much since my new dryer with the anti crease:) used to do uniform and bits and bobs

MrsJBaptiste · 18/03/2019 21:23

@thelonggame It's only on MN that people don't iron and go out creased to buggery. Everyone I know in RL irons and doesn't make a big deal about it.

Youmadorwhat · 18/03/2019 21:25

Yes and I’m 33

Vinorosso74 · 18/03/2019 21:28

Mid 40s and only iron the odd thing. I can't remember when I last did iron anything. DP irons his shirts, DD doesn't have a uniform.

Middlrm · 18/03/2019 21:29

No ... there is more to life than ironing hanger dry everything often looks good enough

GaraMedouar · 18/03/2019 21:30

I’m late 40’s and iron absolutely nothing. I’d never find the time.

Dowser · 18/03/2019 21:49

I iron my husbands shirts.
It’s the only joy in my life
😂

Jamise · 18/03/2019 21:52

Never and I don't have a tumble drier so they're creased but I just don't care enough about having creased clothes to do it.
