Do you iron?

We don’t do any ironing except for the odd formal item. I probably haven’t used my iron for 6 months.

My DM is very shocked by this.

Do you iron & what age bracket are you? I’m in my 30s

troppibambini · 14/03/2019 21:00

Yes I do. Three kids who all wear proper school shirts, dh wears shirts most days a preschooler and me.
I'm 41.
I iron everything. Not underwear obviously but everything else otherwise it looks crumpled.

BitchQueen90 · 14/03/2019 21:00

I iron clothes. But I don't have a tumble drier or outside space to hang washing out (I live in a flat) so clothes have to dry on an airer meaning they stay creased.

I hate creased clothes, I think it looks scruffy.

BitchQueen90 · 14/03/2019 21:01

Oh I'm 28 by the way. I iron in front of the telly on a Sunday afternoon. Grin

CaseofEllen · 14/03/2019 21:01

No! Not unless something desperately needs ironing and even then I'd rather just wear something else/not buy it 😂 I'm 25, DP 31.

londonliv · 14/03/2019 21:01

Nope - I'm in my late 30s. Life is too short. DH occasionally irons a shirt for a special occasion but that's for him to do!!

Thankssomuch · 14/03/2019 21:02

Of course I do.

mrsk28 · 14/03/2019 21:03

Late twenties, haven't owned an iron since leaving home at 22

DramaAlpaca · 14/03/2019 21:03

I'm mid-50s & I don't iron unless I absolutely have to. DH does his own work shirts.

I do and I don’t
I fold/hang straight out of the tumble drier so most items don’t need it but if I come to wear something and it’s creased I will iron it right before I put it on.
I’m 30

Bold fail - yes I iron kids uniform- t-shirts only if I must, thier dresses are non iron if you tumble dry and they always look smart not crumpled

Adelie0404 · 14/03/2019 21:11

Life is definitely too short.
The iron comes out for - those iron-on name tapes.
Maybe 2x a year at other times.

A good tumble dry and prompt folding/hanging does just fine!

elephantoverthehill · 14/03/2019 21:14

I am 54 and do not iron any more. Dcs school shirts are put in the tumble drier and then straight onto coat hangers or hung on coat hangers on the line. Actually I am telling fibs because I do iron when I sew or block knitted stuff.

Shortandsweet96 · 14/03/2019 21:15

22 and iron everything.

I fond it very calming to sit down and iron a giant pile of freshly washed and dried clothes.

ooooohbetty · 14/03/2019 21:16

I work with a few people who don't iron. You can tell. They never look really smart. Always very slightly crumpled.

happymummy12345 · 14/03/2019 21:16

I iron everything except socks and fitted sheets

Sarahlou63 · 14/03/2019 21:16

I'm 55. Bought a magnificent Rowenta steam iron a few years ago (the review said "if god wanted to flatten the Himalayas he'd use this") and love it. I iron 4 pillowcases and 2 flat sheets annually without fail.

happymummy12345 · 14/03/2019 21:16

I'm 26 next month

SquigglePigs · 14/03/2019 21:20

We're mid 30's and it's just DH's work shirts. Stretch to outfits for weddings/christenings if needed too. I've taken care to select a work wardrobe that doesn't need ironing. Also as of last year our cleaner does the ironing anyway.

I iron nothing, nothing whatsoever. Don't tumble much either, the odd towel. Thirties. Ok late thirties. Ok fine, pretty much 40. Gah.
