Do you iron?

We don’t do any ironing except for the odd formal item. I probably haven’t used my iron for 6 months.

My DM is very shocked by this.

Do you iron & what age bracket are you? I’m in my 30s

I'm 37, 1 ds in nursery, dh is in the building trade so rarely needs a shirt. I work in an office so do have to look professional. I very very rarely iron. I bought myself a handheld clothes steamer, which I use on any of my work tops which look a little crumpled, it's very quick and easy. Everything else gets tumble dried and then folded/hung up asap.

babysharkah · 14/03/2019 21:23

Nope. Not sure if I even have an iron. Early 40s.

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 14/03/2019 21:25

Do I iron? Do I chuff! Why would I make the laundry process, which is already long and tediously neverending as it is, even longer and more tedious? I fold things when they come out of the spin dryer and put them to dry like that so they don't end up really creased.
I'm 40 but my mum never ironed anything either

KNain · 14/03/2019 21:26

I'm early 30s, 2 DC and iron everything- including dishcloths and tea towels. I find it very relaxing, I stick Netflix on the iPad and have a couple of ironing sessions each week.

maddiemookins16mum · 14/03/2019 21:27

I don’t. My DP irons everything in the household. It is a late Sunday morning ritual, I prep the roast in the kitchen, DP does all the ironing in the lounge with the football/Dr Who/F1 on. I haven’t ironed in years.

Racheyg · 14/03/2019 21:28

Yes and I hate it.

maloofhoof · 14/03/2019 21:29

I iron everything. That I know of, I don't know anyone who doesn't.

MothOnTheWall · 14/03/2019 21:30

I lost custody of my super posh steam iron when I split with ex...never felt the need to replace it. (The iron or the ex)

InDubiousBattle · 14/03/2019 21:31

I'm nearly 40 and I iron most things, not pjs or underwear but certainly uniform, shirts, tops etc. I think you can tell when people don't iron their clothes. I just prefer them ironed.

cushioncovers · 14/03/2019 21:33

Nope haven't ironed since I went to a wedding 5 years ago. I'm nearly 50.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 14/03/2019 21:34

32 and haven't ironed since I moved to the US 5 years ago. I send all my clothes that need ironing to the dry cleaner Blush

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 14/03/2019 21:35

Mid thirties. Iron most tops, jeans, shirts, pillow cases. I didn’t have the time for it when they were babies / toddlers, but they’re a bit older now, and I do prefer it.

My mum used to iron my Dad’s boxers though.. I wouldn’t go that far!

Bananalanacake · 14/03/2019 21:36

I am 41 and I love it. I do it every 2 weeks while watching the Crown. I love seeing the piles of neatly ironed clothes and putting them at the bottom of the pile in the wardrobe to make a neat rotation system. especially with my dc's clothes.

elQuintoConyo · 14/03/2019 21:45

I'm 43. I only iron in summer when we're in t-shirts and linen trousers.

I iron my stuff and ds' stuff, DH does his own (usually one item just before he leaves the house).

We don't have a tumble drier, don't need one.

SurfnTerfFantasticmissfoxy · 14/03/2019 21:46

No - at least not myself. I'm 36. The few items that do need ironed get put in a box to be sent to the ironing lady once a month-ish

Fizzytonicplease · 14/03/2019 21:48

Late 30's and iron, i even iron our bedding

Bookworm01 · 14/03/2019 21:50

Early 40s. My family are incapable of keeping clothes ordered and tidy. I was forever re-ironing and re-folding. One day I snapped and said, "I give up". Now I iron "on-demand". I hang and fold unironed, and if they want anything they leave it out for me to do. It saves me time and stress.

TheFairyCaravan · 14/03/2019 21:52

Yes. The only things I don't iron are towels, undies and fitted sheets. I've got an extra wide ironing board and a steam generator iron so it doesn't take long. I'm 48.

RamblingFar · 14/03/2019 21:56

Mid 30s, no ironing here.

GetRid · 14/03/2019 22:00

I don't iron.

School shirts are non-iron and I hang them up straight out of the washer. Same with most things that supposedly need Ironing.

I do love a freshly ironed cotton shirt for work, and occasionally get the iron out and do all my shirts. Then I don't wear them again for another six months cos I just can't be bothered!

MIL irons everything including socks

beenhereages1 · 14/03/2019 22:00

Not massively - I hang T-shirt's/shirts up on hangers to dry etc so there's not much that needs ironing

DH irons his own work shirts

beenhereages1 · 14/03/2019 22:01

Oh and I'm late 30's!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/03/2019 22:24

Hardly ever these days but have ironed enough work and school shirts to last me a lifetime.

It's the only domestic task I actually enjoy. My mother had an ironing board with seat attached, so to me it's always been a job you could do sitting down, preferably while watching or listening to something absorbing. Also I love the smell of clean clothes being ironed, and the feel of really smooth sheets. I really should do it more often Grin

tobee · 14/03/2019 22:51

No ironing here. I always make it worse, despite having had a snazzy iron and watched how to videos. We all wear casual clothes here so that helps. Im 51.

smallereveryday · 14/03/2019 23:00

No.
Ironing board somewhere. If kids or we need something ironed the clothe item owner irons it
