How old were you when you had your first?

I’m 34 and TTC. Having always thought I only wanted one, I’m now thinking that we might want a larger family (two or three) and am wondering if we’ve left it too late.

So can I ask; how old were you when you had your first child and how many do you have now?

I was 23 and now have 2

I was 19 and now have 4

34 is definitely not too late to have 3 children though, I wouldn’t worry at all

I was 19. Had my second at 21. My mother was 37 when she had me (natural conception). Provided you are able to deal with a small age gap I doubt you’ve left it too late.

Had dd at 17. Last ones at 37 and 43. Many in between.
You have time but not to waste.

First at 28

First 19

First (twins) at 30. I have 4 now and I'm 36.

One and only at 36

38, and just the one. We toyed with another but DS didn't sleep through til he was 6 (and woke at 4.15am).

Another child would have finished us off! Neither of us wanted another one enough so we're happy with DS, who is now 8.

I had one at 26 and another at 30. That was right for me and I wouldn't contemplate another now I'm 37.

It's irrelevant however. Do what is right for you.

33. Had my second 16 months later. Would have liked one more, but DH died before that baby’s first birthday.

30 when I had my first. Only have one though. Still undecided when/if to have another and I'm 33 now.

Easy to say, but don't worry too much at this stage about how many you want to have in total. You might find you change your mind once the first one arrives (either wanting more than you thought, or less, or wanting bigger/smaller age gaps etc)

I had my first (and only) at 29. It’s our choice to stick at one child though. I think you definitely have time.

22 & have 3 at 33. 2 close together then a big gap. Hate to say I have less energy now than I did with the first 2, but that could be the 10 years of parenting inbetween that’s knackered me.

First got pregnant earlier this year at 32 and sadly that didn't work out. I'm 33 now and we're TTC again. I'd be 34 when I gave birth next year if I got pregnant now.

The consultant I saw and the fertility expert who is on This Morning say not to worry if you're healthy and in your 30s!

I'd like 2-3 also. But I'd be happy with 1 if that's all that happens for us.

17 and my last at 28.

32. Now 34 and pregnant with no. 2, but no more after this!

First at 32. Now 39 and about to have 4th. This will definitely be the last, never expected to have this many! If anyone had told me when I was 30 I'd have laughed in their face...

So I would say you definitely have time for 2 or 3, if you decide that's what you want. Good luck, and enjoy the journey.

32. Pregnant with #2 and I'll be 34 when it's born. Think I'll stop there though!

First at 34 second at 36... not sure if a 3rd is a good idea but I'd want to be done by 40 if we did.

20 when DD was born, now 25 and DD2 is due Feb

I have 3, about 3 years between them.

26 and I now have three.
