How old were you when you had your first?

I’m 34 and TTC. Having always thought I only wanted one, I’m now thinking that we might want a larger family (two or three) and am wondering if we’ve left it too late.

So can I ask; how old were you when you had your first child and how many do you have now?

Started ttc when I was 31, DS born when I was 34. I had a couple of losses and he ended up being an ICSI baby.
I only have one but I’m happy with that. We kept our frozen embryos for 6 years but then donated them to research because we’re at peace with having one.

I was 28 - and down in my notes as an 'elderly' primigravida!

To be fair, I was the oldest by quite a bit on the maternity ward - this was late 70s.
My dd was 38 and 39 when she had hers, and many of her friends have been similar ages - one recently had her 2nd at 41.

You have certainly not left it too late, OP.

I was 18 when my ds was born. In my mid-late twenties now, and just the thought of starting all over again from pregnancy, fills me with dread. All that feels well behind me now, been there, done that, haven't had to get up during the night for years etc. I might feel broody one day, but generally I'm not a baby person.

sweetkitty · 20/12/2018 10:38

Almost 29

Had my fourth and last just before I was 35.

LaPufalina · 20/12/2018 10:44

37 and 39 and done, feeling a bit sad packing away the newborn and 0-3 babygros that are off to new homes!

TheLazyDuchess · 20/12/2018 10:46

I just wanted to add, my great gran was 46 (iir) when my great aunt was born. My gran, the eldest was 19, and her sisters teenagers. Apparently there was a rumour that the baby must have really been my grans or one of her sisters Grin.

longwayoff · 20/12/2018 10:50

I was 19. My daughter having experienced a youthful but pretty senseless young mum, sensibly waited till she was 32. You'll be fine OP, good luck.

jarhead123 · 20/12/2018 10:51

I was 22 when I had my first, 24 with second

ernjas · 20/12/2018 10:52

Needallthesleep · 20/12/2018 10:52

longwayoff · 20/12/2018 10:52

Oh, and my mother was 40 for me and 44 when my sister was born.

causeimunderyourmistletoe · 20/12/2018 10:55

First at 25 last at 26!

PrivateCello · 20/12/2018 10:56

I was 33 when my son was born, had a miscarriage in between and second was born when I was 35. She is almost 8 months and we would like another two but not with a small gap and I worry we don't have much time. I am 36 now and would be TTC starting February 2020 if all goes to plan so will be 38 when/if third is born. Hmm don't think a fourth would be possible then. We should have started at 30 but I wasn't ready.

RoyalChocolat · 20/12/2018 10:57

I am 37 and about to give birth to my 4th.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 20/12/2018 10:59

I was 20. I had 4 kids by 29.

Littleraindrop15 · 20/12/2018 10:59

NoArmaniNoPunani · 20/12/2018 11:01

I just have one, I was just about to turn 34 when he was born. I'm 37 now and don't think I'll have more

meow1989 · 20/12/2018 11:02

29, DS is 6 m, if we have another (big if!) I think we'll have a 4-5 year gap
