How old were you when you had your first?

I’m 34 and TTC. Having always thought I only wanted one, I’m now thinking that we might want a larger family (two or three) and am wondering if we’ve left it too late.

So can I ask; how old were you when you had your first child and how many do you have now?

21 with my first and 23 with my second. Never say never, but I really do think I'm done now at 28. The only person I'd have had more with has passed and the age gap would be getting big now.

23, expecting DC4 now - I'll be 30. With 2-3 year age gaps (2 perfectly manageable ime, 3 easier and cheaper for childcare) you could comfortably have the family size you wanted. I think it's usually recommended after a c section to wait a year before ttc again but babies closer together than 2 years is lovely too.

First at 35 and now 13 weeks with no2, due when I'll be 38. That's us done!

First and last at 28. He's 6 next month and I never want another

One and only at 36, natural conception.

I was 31. I now have 4 (37). It’s been a busy 6 years though.

First at 33, now pregnant with my second and will be 37 when he or she arrives

20, now have 4

35 and 37. Most of my family and friends had their first at 33 or older and most of those had 2 or more children if that is what they wanted.

First at 30.
You're not too old. My DF has just had twins at 47 (her first set of twins are 16!)

First and only at 18

First at 34, second at 36, with a loss in between.

I had my first about 6 weeks before I turned 33, and my second was born on my 36th birthday.

Had my first at 33, my last (twins) at nearly 40. I have 4.

I was 25 when I had DS (now 4) I would love another 1 but not found a good man yet lol I don't think it's too late but you may end up with a small gap between them and be run off your feet with 3 kids under 5.

I was nearly 38 when I had DS, never really thought about having children before, we tried after for another baby but it wasn't meant to be. It wasnt that hard looking after a new baby at 38 but he is 15 next month & I'm nearly 53, DS is Autistic & as he has got older it's become harder because of his autism.

We’ve only been TTC for a month, so it’s really early days. Ideally I’d like quite big gaps between DCs, but like PPs have said - that all might change!

It’s heartening to see how many of you had one later on and then quickly followed that with another one or two! There must be something enjoyable about the whole parenting thing!

Currently pregnant for the 5th time and will be 38 when I give birth in the spring.

Absolutely possible. I was 33 when I had my first, then another at 35 and my youngest at 37.

I had my first at 41 and my second at 45. I felt far too young and immature at 34, although I appreciate that sounds ridiculous!
