How old were you when you had your first?

I’m 34 and TTC. Having always thought I only wanted one, I’m now thinking that we might want a larger family (two or three) and am wondering if we’ve left it too late.

So can I ask; how old were you when you had your first child and how many do you have now?

22 when ds was born and I would have had my second at 25 but it didn't work out for us this time

27 for the first and 30 for the second. I did want 3 or 4 but it turns out 2 is enough work for me

34,37,40 for my three! Very much normal childbearing ages where I live.

26, just had my first DS. IF we have another one it won’t be for at least 4 or 5 years. I think the only real difference with starting a bit later is that you’re likely to need to have smaller age gaps.

I was 18 when I got pregnant with DD, had her at 19, I’m 25 now and pregnant with DD2. My mum has me and my brother in her mid twenties, at 37 she had my sister, 38 sister no2, 41 brother no2, 43 brother no3. All natural conception.

My mum was 30 with first (but she sadly miscarried) had my sister at 36, another miscarriage at 38 and me and 41. So it’s not too late.

18 when I had my first, I'm now ttc number 5 at (almost) 34. Would like another 2.

Had my first at 34 and now 33 weeks pregnant with my second at 38. Would have had a shorter gap ideally however hubby had a nasty illness in between and we also had a miscarriage.

First at 31 and second at 34. Best of luck to you - I hope your wish comes true.

37 and 39. Lots of my friends were 34 or over having their first and went on to have 2 or 3.

35, but decided to stop at 1.

34 and 39

26 and 28 but less than a year and a half between the DC. I wanted to be done by 30 (DH is a lot older).

DH wanted a third when I didn't. I wanted a third when he didn't. We stuck at 2 and are very happy with that decision now!

First at 30, 3 by the time I was 37.

31 with first and now pregnant with second at 34. Would have liked a smaller gap but TTC issues and a miscarriage along the way.

34 isn’t too old to have 2 or more with smallish gaps. You never know how you’ll feel after the first. You might not want more.

28 and now 32 with 2dcs

I have plenty of friends and work colleagues who have had 2/3 children, between the ages of 35-42.

I had mine at 24 and 28, so my 2DD are now grown up and my friend have 10 year olds.

27. It’s just me and Her and we are quite happy so I think I’ll leave it as that.

Had my DD at 29 I'm 30 now hope to ttc no 2 the end of next year. My mum had me at 44 naturally.

27, and then I had my second at 30.

27 and 30.

Now they are in their twenties. No idea how that happened.
