I'm struggling at the moment with MH issues that are refusing to let up and part of that is I'm struggling to see the good in the world.

It must exist so I'm asking MN to help me to see it.

So far today I have,

the lovely person who sent me a lovely pm today,
the patient at the pharmacy who went and picked up my meds for me so I didn't need to struggle and,
the person who told me they care.

So, what's yours?

I wrapped up a nice birthday present for a friend

I took my mother some new clothes

I stroked the cats

(I realise these are things I did rather than things others did - but hopefully they are still good things!)

💐& hugs for you OP.

  1. Jukeboxes have arrived where I work so I was bopping along & singing through my whole shift
  2. I had some really lovely customers.
  3. One customer said that we shouldn’t worry about the weather but just be glad we’re alive. Every day is a good day.
  4. DD & I had an evening without arguing & ended up dancing around the kitchen 🙂
  5. We got 2 rabbits at the beginning of the holidays & they get cuter every day. I spent ages just watching them nibbling the lawn this morning
  6. Mentioning the weather again but it was a beautiful day here & I thought how lucky I was to live in such an amazing part of the country
  7. Watched “ Escape to the Country” & saw more stunning parts of the UK. Seeing nature always makes me feel there is good in the world 🌲🌴🌿🍁🌾🌹🌻

I work in a carehome, one of the residents gave me a good complement today and complemented me to other colleagues aswell. I felt appreciated

LanguidLobster · 07/09/2018 23:36

Aww that's sweet Becca. You're getting through.

Not sure about mine really, just felt happy in general today

EvilRingahBitch · 07/09/2018 23:37

First full day of school for both DC today. They’ve got patchy school careers but today they both came out making positive noises, and one has spontaneously done a homework without having to be poked with a pointy stick. We all went to the chippy for chips for supper and at them while we watched Taskmaster as a family which is a blessing in these YouTube dominated times.

Defender90 · 07/09/2018 23:37

Hugs to you OP.

It's my first birthday since losing my Mum. The messages from my friends have been so lovely.

OhHolyFuck · 07/09/2018 23:41

1 - I'm ill which although is a bad thing, my boss has insisted I take the weekend off to recover and my lovely colleagues have sorted out covering me between them so I can rest up guilt free

2 - my ds2 who has some additional needs and who I was fully expecting to really struggle transitioning into his new class has had a brilliant week with no issues

3 - it's getting winter and all the good TV is starting again? maybe scraping the barrel here!
But I've just had a lovely mug of Horlicks and watched Locationx3 from earlier on in the week

GoodHeavensNoImAChicken · 07/09/2018 23:45

I was helping in theatre this morning and the staff were lovely at reassuring a nervous lady before her breast cancer surgery. It was so sad but so heartwarming.

My friend baked pecan and maple buns for my other friend’s birthday. She was so pleased when she saw them

GirlfriendInAKorma · 07/09/2018 23:49

I had a nice big cup of hot chocolate which made me happy! Sometimes you just need to give yourself a little treat :)

MinaPaws · 07/09/2018 23:49

I'm having a really tough week with bereavement and sick elderly relatives. DH, who is not great with emotional support, could see I was struggling and arranged for us to go to a flower show after work. He took me to the chrysanthemum tent (I love their colours and mad scientific shapes) and said, 'Shall I leave you here for an hour?' Made me very happy when I had been feeling down.

eaglefly · 07/09/2018 23:51

My DC are developing a real bond with each other and actually being nice to each other.

DD is reliving childhood memories - this is so important as she is dealing with MH issues.

DC recognising the importance of their grandmother in their life and valuing time with her

I got through a long week and will have time to rest this weekend

Feeling on top of the housework

There is a gratitude thread that runs where people post what they are grateful for that day

Witchend · 08/09/2018 00:17

In order of happening today
Our temperamental photocopier/printer did 250 order of service booklets (including cover on card) without jamming once
Dd2 and ds got a bus to my work after school despite not expecting to, and were cheerful about it
DS has just finished his first week at secondary school and is going well. He's even done his homework without pressure or fussing.
The car has been mended (hence the needing to get the bus)
Dd1 has the A-level predicted grades she wanted. Yesterday she came home quite despondent because she was 1 mark off the next grade. Today the teacher told her she'd predict it anyway.
Our new minister starts tomorrow and he seems brilliant!
Dd2 (in stroppy teen stage) curled up to watch bake off with DH. And there's a contestant with a little arm like she has.

SneakyGremlins · 08/09/2018 00:21

Harvested this cucumber I've grown in my bedroom all by myself!

Tell me about the good things that have happened today...
LanguidLobster · 08/09/2018 00:23

Sneaks don't eat it - you've bonded with it now!

EBearhug · 08/09/2018 00:27

I took some excellent meeting notes. I did a cluster server upgrade which ran smoothly and finished ahead of time. I had a brief chat with my lovely director.

SneakyGremlins · 08/09/2018 00:27
Grin
RightyHoChaps · 08/09/2018 00:41

Oh OP, I hope you cope better soon. I've been there, it's hard to get out of that sucking void.

Hmmm today, let's see:

  1. Woke up to my beautiful son. He makes me giggle every morning. Today he was doing some acrobatics whilst trying to breastfeed.
  1. Chilled out with partner in the morning... and did some other things
  1. Danced with my DS in my arms to some music.
  1. Got a new top in the post and it fits lovely.
  1. Went for a nice walk in the park with DS. Lovely weather for it.

Small things but I really appreciate them.

Mum2OneTeen · 08/09/2018 01:21

Just reading about the pilot in the US who bought 50 pizzas for his passengers to eat whilst they were stuck somewhere due to a flight diversion.

I'm currently stuck in bed feeling miserable and unable to eat or drink anything due to an incredibly painful strep throat. Any distraction is a good thing for me today!

Qwebec · 08/09/2018 04:13

read a heart warming book
smooth day at work
looked at beautiful flowers

google
rose free spirit
arn't they lovely

Becca19962014 · 08/09/2018 09:45

Thankyou! I had a tough night and it's lovely to see these responses!

Anything counts. It really does!

So today's list will include this thread!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/09/2018 10:22

We are alive.
My migraine ended after three days.
DB felt ill and went to the doctor's just in time to prevent a heart attack - had to have stents in though..
DS (a teenager) is not as grumpy as usual today.
The sun is shining.

MinaPaws · 08/09/2018 12:23

Wow, Prokup, that is good news.
Nice cucumber, Sneaky. Very impressive.

OP sorry you had a tough night. Have you got anything good planned for today? An autumn walk? Bit of baking?

I'm making pizzas for a family film night. Cheap and cheerful.

MrsMozart · 08/09/2018 12:27

Aw OP. Have a hug.

For me it's support from friends and family, and total strangers on a forum.

Flowers and a beautiful inscription from DDs.

Becca19962014 · 08/09/2018 12:32

I've been out, got my meds, bread and though I panicked, the person serving me was lovely and chatted to me briefly and, I got through it!

My plans were to do some stitching but that's triggering me regarding a very close friends death a couple of months ago (I'd stitch gifts for her).

It was so lovely to wake up and find not only someone had replied but you'd all been so lovely.

This thread is definitely going in my journal as one of the good things today!!
