Tell me about the good things that have happened today...

I'm struggling at the moment with MH issues that are refusing to let up and part of that is I'm struggling to see the good in the world.

It must exist so I'm asking MN to help me to see it.

So far today I have,

the lovely person who sent me a lovely pm today,
the patient at the pharmacy who went and picked up my meds for me so I didn't need to struggle and,
the person who told me they care.

So, what's yours?

You've done well today lass.

Becca19962014 · 08/09/2018 14:58

I've done nothing today except feel unwell.

So, anyone got any good things to share from today?

Today's my son's birthday. Him and the guys played "retro" games (the ones I grew up with) and we all had a great laugh.

A friend visited today and brought me pretzels which I love.

I've been using a new app for envelope budgeting (goodbudget) for a few days and I found today using it that I was less anxious about money.

DH suggested I have an afternoon nap. While I crashed out in our bedroom for two hours he hoovered the rest of the house,

Tonight we have lit the woodburner and the house is lovely and coy.

MaryBoBary · 09/09/2018 21:06

Today I started a list for our house move next month. Doesn’t sound great but we have been living in the absolute breadline for 18 months, drowning in debt. This week we accepted the offer to move in with family and get ourselves straight. It feels like we have won the lottery! So writing my moving plan was such an amazing thing to finally be doing!

I went to make a milky tea and found my milk had gone off so went to the corner shop. It doesn't sound much, but for me, today, it was a major achievement.

Oh OP it’s shit when you’re down that hole (and sometimes when I’ve been there, reminding myself it doesn’t really matter whether everything is meaningless or not helps. This bit of Kim Addonizio poem helps me “love me
when you’re lonely, when we’re both too tired to speak, when you
don’t believe
in anything, listen, there isn’t anything, it doesn’t matter”)

That said, here are the best bits of my day...

A walk under a stormy sky. Buzzards high up and the rosehips and rowan berries so red they seemed to be glowing in the hedges.

Homemade gooseberry jam on hot toast.

Proper coffee.

The baby discovering his willy in the bath, looking down at it, looking at me like “that’s an actual body part? Seriously?” and then laughing so much he had tears in his eyes.

My husband cooking tea for us all.

GrumpyOldMare · 09/09/2018 21:24

I didn't chuck my apron and hat at the boss and walk out of work,so I still have a job. ( This IS a good thing, yes?)

I have a bar of dark chocolate with coconut a workmate gave me yesterday.

My painkillers have started working at last.

Verbena87 · 09/09/2018 21:24

Just seen your milk update - well bloody done! I know what it’s like to get paralysed with dread on the sofa for a whole day so yes, sometimes even getting as far as the kitchen is a win never mind the shop. Hope your cuppa is blissful.

mamaduckbone · 09/09/2018 21:26

The best bits of my day...

  • watching ds1 play football in the sunshine and his team won.
  • a lovely bubble bath and doze this afternoon.
  • a cuddle on the sofa with ds2.
  • a really tasty roast for dinner.
Sorry you’re in a low place right now OP, I hope these messages are helping you see there are happy places to get back to.
leccybill · 09/09/2018 21:31

Tiny things today...

I washed my hair
DD learnt her 8 times table really well
I've just had a big cookie from Lidl and there was lovely Belgian chocolate chips in it.

EssentialHummus · 09/09/2018 21:36

DD and I have finally gotten through a tough few weeks of illness, and we had a good cuddle while dancing around today.

I did a bit of a cupboard clean-out, so a few of my unloved clothes are off to new homes.

littlepooch · 09/09/2018 21:39

I'm not well and struggling so my mum cooked us an amazing roast dinner.

Seeing my girls with their grandparents. The bond they have is so so dear to me.

DarwinLoves · 09/09/2018 21:40

I attended a function last night to honour volunteers for charities, I was invited as I volunteer. This was a huge ballroom full of people who give their time to volunteer to help others.

I was inspired, it made me realise the impact normal people can have just each person doing small acts of good has the ability to change the world.

Sorry, much more OTT than you asked for!

Today a lady let me and the kids go in front of her in a queue because we were running late of our bus.

DarwinLoves · 09/09/2018 21:41

Hope you are ok OP Thanks

DD8 who has an extraordinary fear of water, started new swimming lessons today and turned round gave me a smile and jumped in, I nearly fell over I was so proud of her and she hasn't stopped talking about it all day!!

Thanks for you

moolady1977 · 09/09/2018 21:55

My dp received a sum of money that although isn't life changing is enough to find me a car so yes could change things in our life, we had sausage sandwiches made by my dm and finally got to chill out after a long couple of weeks

Becca19962014 · 09/09/2018 21:55

Getting on a train with baby in a sling and toddler in tow as buggy's not permitted (it was a busy steam train day out for kids) and the attendant said to me if I wanted to take my buggy on that would be okay in my circumstance... Except I didn't even have the buggy with me after reading the guidelines online before heading off. Nice gesture though.

sourpatchkid · 09/09/2018 22:09

We ate apples from the tree in the garden. Beautiful crispy fresh apples just placed there for us by nature - amazing!

foxedupfox · 09/09/2018 22:10

My inlaws fucked off home early 🎉

Wilhemenawonka · 09/09/2018 22:10

I held a tarantula and watched my little girl dance with no self consciousness at all and it was beautiful.

The man who made my other girl.laugh by making his tongue dance.

Reconnecting with a bunch of friends aftea long time.

And finding a beautiful thread like this. Thank you for starting it. You are one of the people who makes life lovely even if you don't realise it

Verbena87 · 10/09/2018 10:14

Listening to this and it’s perfect. About 12 or 13 minutes in are clips of students talking about who their heroes are and it’s made me feel so hopeful about the next generation.
