I'm struggling at the moment with MH issues that are refusing to let up and part of that is I'm struggling to see the good in the world.

It must exist so I'm asking MN to help me to see it.

So far today I have,

the lovely person who sent me a lovely pm today,
the patient at the pharmacy who went and picked up my meds for me so I didn't need to struggle and,
the person who told me they care.

So, what's yours?

Today

went to a yoga class and a lovely woman I know a bit gave me a hug

walked to the shops in the next village in the sunshine instead of waiting for a bus

Bought a chocolate pudding as a friday night treat for the family

finally booked someone to come and quote for mending a window which has been falling apart for years.

Not read it all, but this is a lovely thread. I'm just about to go to bed and you have made me think about the lovely things today.

DD has just finished her first full week in reception, and she loves it.
I popped out this morning and bumped into a friend and we went for a spontaneous coffee together.
I had a long cuddle on the sofa with dd after school.
DS was invited to his friend's house after school and had a fab time.
I am on a mission to get the house tidy and it's starting to work Shock

I and a couple of colleagues have been thinking about a really exciting (if you’re a geek like us!) project for over a year now - today we finally managed to get started and make some proper structured plans which I’m well excited about! (This also involved me planning and chairing a formal meeting for the first time ever so I’m really rather proud of myself)

Becca19962014 · 15/09/2018 12:52

Sounds good sally - yes I am a geek!

So far I've managed to get my meds and a bit of shopping.

Thanks for this gorgeous thread OP Flowers hope your MH issues ease up a bit for you.

My baby DD saw her first Christmas tree yesterday in a crazily ahead of time lovely shop and it was magic. We’ve had a really rough few years trying to have her and never thought we would ever get to moments like this, grateful doesn’t even cover it.

Becca19962014 · 15/09/2018 14:38

It hasn't but I'm finding comfort in people's posts so that's good!

And you were nice and caring to another person in difficulty on Mumsnet Becca. That's lovely too.

Today a visit to a and e for ds went well and he's breathing easier. Grateful for the NHS.

DH had sepsis and nearly died in June. Lost foot and lower leg to,save his life.
He started rehab physio 3 weeks ago, had progressed so well they are now talking about measurements etc for an artificial limb. We are so made up.

A somewhat 'daft' idea I had in an idle moment is fast turning into something that could give me employment and a possible future career. Had chance meeting with someone with loads of contacts and networks on Monday, she's introduced me to someone via email and today have had confirmation of 2 meetings next week. Excited much.

MsForestier · 15/09/2018 16:55

Eastmids what a tough time for you both and you are so positive. Good luck with your new enterprise

Handbag101 · 15/09/2018 17:14

I found a one pound coin in a supermarket trolley.

SneakyGremlins · 15/09/2018 17:59

I'm in A+E BUT the vending machine has my favourite crisps!

Verbena87 · 15/09/2018 20:23

I found a hardly-worn designer dress in my size in a charity shop for £12.

LanguidLobster · 15/09/2018 20:26

Spoke to a friend who has just finished a book, I only just received her last one this week so my heart sank a little.

I'm really happy for her but hope she doesn't churn them out this quickly all the time Grin

DS2 had his 11+ today. He got upset before he went in, saying he wanted to go home and that he didn't want to go to that school. I said he really should go in as it was a great opportunity. Then I worried for 3 hours that I was a terrible mum and that they'd phone me to say he was inconsolable.

He bounced out, really happy! Said he'd really enjoyed it and would like to go to the school if he could.

Plus we got up on time (6am) and had a fun journey there on the bus, and were even early.

I also had a super healthy WW day. And had to buy smaller jeans!

And DS1 has just ordered a bonsai kit, which is great and NOT A SCREEN.

And DH cooked a lovely WW curry and made naan breads. And helped me clean the oven which is now sparkling - you can now see through the door.

A lovely, productive, happy family day. Feeling the love here.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/09/2018 20:35

@SneakyGremlins -- your post is a lovely example of finding the good bits in a tough situation! I hope your A&E trip was quick and successful, and that you stuffed your face with your favourite crisps.

(What are your favourite crisps, btw? I love crisps...)

SneakyGremlins · 15/09/2018 20:40

Walkers Max Paprika Grin

LanguidLobster · 15/09/2018 20:40

Are you OK sneaks?

Crisps might distract you from the cucumber you're intensely fond of :)

It does look like an impressive cucumber however, you'll have to update if you take the plunge and eat it

crazydoglady6867 · 15/09/2018 20:43

I had my hair all cut off it used to be down to the middle of my back now it is very very short. All because of a post on here a few days ago about women over 50 having long hair!!! I love my new hair but my DH hasn’t said a word about it yetGrin

Livinglavidal0ca · 15/09/2018 20:47

My son took his first steps!

Verbena87 · 15/09/2018 20:52

sneaks I really hope your accident/emergency wasn’t relating to having a full cucumber-nourishing system up and running in your room!

LanguidLobster · 15/09/2018 20:56

@Verbana87!! Shock

ICantBelieveIDidThis · 15/09/2018 20:58

I remembered to bring back my library books before I got fined.

Busy hairdresser was able to fit me in for a wash cut and blow dry.

Wellhellojonsnow · 15/09/2018 21:45

Went blackberry picking with my DH & DC - planning to make crumble tmrw.

A very kind man let me go in front of him at the Co op and then told me about pomegranate mollases (that I’ve never heard of but now must try).

DC entertained themselves this morning until 7.30ish so I managed a mini lie-in.

Just had sausage and mash for tea - I’m so over salads and summery food.

SneakyGremlins · 15/09/2018 21:47

Of course not! Shock

I'm on my way home now.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 15/09/2018 21:52

This is such a lovely thread. @Becca19962014 I wish you well and also would like to thank you for starting this. Here are my things for today that I'd pointed out to DD earlier before seeing this thread:

At an activity where DD has moved up to the next class as of today, they had a break and I didn't realise that it was suggested they bring a snack. One of the founding members of the group, who helps out now as she's quite elderly, provided DD with an emergency biscuit. V sweet.

Then later on, a chap ahead of us in Sainsbury's spun round once he'd paid and, much to her delight, gave DD 3 packs of Lego cards.

I nipped in to my beauticians - they'd slotted in a last minute appointment- as a gel nail that was done only 9 days ago had lifted off. My lovely lovely beautician not only re-did the offending nail, but added an additional coat plus top coat to all nails without charge! Wouldn't take any money. So now I reckon my manicure will last a further 2 weeks. I know this is highly vain of me but having nice nails makes everything else seem that wee bit better!
