Naked Attraction: where are the pubes??

I know, I know, it's a dreadful programme, but it's hilarious. But none of the women have any pubic hair. Is this really the norm now? I find that really sad.

I was thinking exactly that!

I don’t think it’s true to say “no women have pubes” though. It’s no women who go on that TV show which is hardly a representative sample of womankind!

Sad that there’s some unspoken rule that vulvas when shown on telly should be hairless though. I think it looks really odd - like a child’s genitals.

I “tidy”’and trim my lady garden so I can go swimming without hairs visible etc but I find this whole scale hair removal baffling.

I don’t think any of my friends IRL are completely bald down there though. And we are a fairly normal bunch!

notsogoodhousekeeping · 25/08/2018 07:57

No I don't think many of mine are either, but we're all in our 40s. It seems to be much more normal (presumably because of porn) these days.

I might start a campaign to bring back the luxuriant bush.

I thought the same thing- especially when one woman was turned down for too much body hair. There was hardly anything there!

cheshireagain · 25/08/2018 08:07

I'm 29 and it was the "norm" for my friends and I to have none.

I'm now experimenting with a Brazilian but not keen Grin

thatsmycustard · 25/08/2018 08:11

Bizarre isn’t it. I’m nearly 40 and the hairless trend surfaced after my formative teenage years, thankfully!

notsogoodhousekeeping · 25/08/2018 08:43

Upkeep is just such a lot of effort, though. I'm too lazy to do more than a trim. And I don't like the childlike look of it.

I wonder if it'll go the other way one day, and hipsters will embrace being hairy again. Obviously how you style your muff is entirely up to you, but young people are under so much pressure to conform these days.

I'm mid 20s and hate hair on my vulva, irritates my C section scar and feels vile. DH trims his which I'm most grateful for

I don't watch porn and I'm not a hipster, it's personal preference

MonsteraDeliciosa · 25/08/2018 08:56

It's sad that girls these days now have that expectation/ demand.
I imagine poor teenagers with itchy shaved bits feeling uncomfortable Sad

salopek · 25/08/2018 09:00

I'm 30 and haven't had any pubic hair since I was 19. It's not THAT new a phenomenon Hmm
Most of my friends are all pubic hair free. I think it's the norm for us. I think pubic hair is gross, just as I think leg hair and underarm hair is too.

Dowser · 25/08/2018 09:04

Came in late from cinema last night and switched on tv and that programme came on
It was a bit of a shock with our evening cocoa 😂
I couldn’t help but wonder what happens when they go back to RL
Did anyone ever regret it.
Especially if they were rejected.

Holidayshopping · 25/08/2018 09:08

Do you actually grow hair on your vulva?!

BartholinsSister · 25/08/2018 09:12

Didn't Marylin Monroe famously claim to be hairless from the neck down? It's nothing new.

AviatorShades · 25/08/2018 09:12

For those of you who remove all your pubic hair, are your male partners hair-free too? And if not, why not?

DiamondsInTheMud · 25/08/2018 09:16

Dp is not hairless, i am. Because we each chose what to do with our own body hair?

I dont shave mine for him, and would never dream of telling him what to do with his body hair....

HRTpatch · 25/08/2018 09:18

This again Hmm
Some people like to be hairfree, others don't

ChortleFace88 · 25/08/2018 09:22

One of them had a very nasty looking shaving rash too!

StarCutterCookie · 25/08/2018 09:25

If anyone thinks a shaved adult foo looks the same as a childs, they need their head examined.

I'm loving the faux incredulity, it's hardly a secret many women shave themselves down there. Times change, snobbery doesn't.

thecapitalsunited · 25/08/2018 09:31

I’m 30 and I used to be completely bare down there but I’ve had a full bush for years now. It’s much more comfortable and far less sweaty. No regrowth itches, no painful ingrowing hairs, no shaving rash. It’s brill. I don’t talk about pubes with my friends so I’ve no idea what anyone else’s situation is.

My DH complained a little at first when he realised that my pubes were here to stay as he does trim his pubes and he didn’t like getting an accidental flossing but I don’t think it’s something he’s thought about for a while.

esk1mo · 25/08/2018 09:31

aviator because i like hair on them but not me? Hmm

i grow my hair long on my head, should he grow his to match?

FYI ALOT of women in porn don’t shave, or only remove some hair. i shave armpits, legs and pubic hair. so do alot of people.

just because it wasn’t the norm when you were growing up doesn’t make it a negative thing. things change. just like children rocked bowl cuts in the 70s, they dont now.

India1819 · 25/08/2018 09:35

I’m 31 and have been hair free since I was 15ish. It’s nothing new! I prefer the way it looks (pubes remind me of old fashioned sex postcards from Greece), plus it makes me feel nice and clean and cool. My husband trims too. We both do it how we like not it...because of the other.

It infuriates me when other women say how they feel sorry for girls for the pressure and that it’s about porn. Bullshit. It’s just a different trend for a different generation, same as I wouldn’t choose to have my head hair like my mum.

Please stop with the oppressive talk!

AviatorShades · 25/08/2018 09:38

esk my question was prompted by reading of the girl being turned down because she was too hairy. And so I wondered about the men...is all.

mimibunz · 25/08/2018 09:39

Nothing quite like a Saturday morning bacon butty and MN pubes thread.

Branleuse · 25/08/2018 09:39

I was wondering this too. I think its a shame. I do occasionally shave my pubes off and at times in my life it was my preferred style, but honestly its weird that nobody does anymore. Its made me grow mine out in protest ;)
Its much cooler and subversive to have pubes now

Beamur · 25/08/2018 09:42

Subversive pubes Grin

Pippylou · 25/08/2018 09:48

I looked at the women on Game of Thrones & I thought it looked child-like to have completely nude look.

People can do what they like but when something appears to be the social norm, it's hard to be different. They should show a range of "styles" on TV, I think.
