I know, I know, it's a dreadful programme, but it's hilarious. But none of the women have any pubic hair. Is this really the norm now? I find that really sad.

What if the person ended up in a wheelchair
A person may become a wheelchair user, they do not "end up in a wheelchair", it is not an end only a part of their life.

Why is it that leg hair, underarm hair and pubic hair isn't acceptable on a woman but arm hair is? I'm guessing once upon a time leg hair and arm hair would have been a bit similar in thickness prior to a girl starting to de-hair. I wonder who decided that leg hair = no but arm hair = yes.

Sadly, I can’t help wondering whether there is an unconscious (or maybe even conscious) bias against the programne because the presenter Anna Richardson is lesbian; she is the long time partner of the excellent presenter Sue Perkins. This does defeat the argument of it being seen a “male entertainment”.

On the other points raised.

  1. Nobody is made to watch it.
  2. Nobody is made to take part.
  3. Some participants have said they found it empowering.
  4. Many relationships are formed from natural attraction. Pants off first should not make a huge difference.
  5. The programme has been supportive of disabled participants.

Marilyn Monroe never claimed to be bald from the neck down. She said that she was "blonde all over", which is quite different.

I neither know nor care how my friends wear (or don't as the case may be) their pubes.

Im 30, been shaving since i was a teen. I hate the feeling of hair, always have, even on legs, i find it cleaner during my period, i also find in summer its better for my skin as no hair dont hold sweat and irritate.
I dont watch porn, its no porn hangup. Its purely i hate the hair feeling everywhere but my head

For those of you who remove all your pubic hair, are your male partners hair-free too? And if not, why not?
From time to time he is, for him its an effort thing but more during summer for same sweating reason.

Maybe sometimes porn follows the real world, not the other way round.

Some lesbian women choose to remove their hair too. I would not have thought many of them are greatly influenced by porn.

And yes, I have come across a number of men with hair removed too. But this isn’t about men, it’s about womens’ individual choice. I do not choose to remove my hair for any man. In fact I have even been asked to grow it by one former lover. The answer was no!

If we banned laundry threads and pubes threads- how much of mumsnet would be left?!
