Naked Attraction: where are the pubes??

I know, I know, it's a dreadful programme, but it's hilarious. But none of the women have any pubic hair. Is this really the norm now? I find that really sad.

its just not true at all. i first shaved when i was 16, but i didnt watch porn till i was about 23

I don't think anyone is claiming that women are seeing porn for the first time and jumping up to shave. The fashion went beyond porn (and some outliers) a long time ago.

Fairylea · 25/08/2018 16:13

I am nearly 40 and shave everything off. Have done for years and years and prefer the way it looks and feels. I am the least “porn” type person you’ll ever meet, more of a naturey hippy sort. I haven’t ever watched porn and dh and I are more likely to enjoy a cup of tea and a Netflix boxset than watch anything porn ish. So for me it’s not about porn, although like fashion / culture / society in general I guess we are all susceptible to trends etc. I can’t even remember why I started doing it now, think I got bored in the bath and thought why not and stuck with it. Dh genuinely couldn’t give a flying fig if I had a massive bush to be honest! He literally does not care.

I don’t like being compared to a little girl (as so often happens on mumsnet) because I choose not to have pubes. Or that I’m somehow oppressed. Confused

Thinkingofausername1 · 25/08/2018 16:14

Oh dear not another tacky reality show. Confused
If I was single and dating I couldn't care less what men think of my down below. However, thankfully I've been married a decade and don't feel the pressure to to this.

MarthasGinYard · 25/08/2018 16:20

Also mid 40's and most of it off

Never even have sex

So 'little girl' or 'porn' Nooooo

Just don't like having a hairy one personally

VianneRocher · 25/08/2018 16:47

Apart from vintage or japanese porn bushes seem to be extinct in porn

Not true in the slightest.

JAPAB · 25/08/2018 17:28

IME full bushes exist as a special interest niche. Majority of regular porn involves hairlessness, and if there are pubes it will be a style that does not cover the bits.

People do seem to like to see the bits, and why not. Looking at essentially a patch of hair is looking at a patch of hair. It's a bit more "ordinary" a sight. Most of us have patches of hair on our heads, some on our faces.

bengalcat · 25/08/2018 17:32

Lol - I guess pubes have evolved / become extinct since I was a teenager - then one just made sure one wasn't poking out of ' yer knickers ' . Interestingly my teens have pubes and I don't . There is some research to suggest less hairy women have more oral sex - as on the receiving end that is

Branleuse · 25/08/2018 17:36

If my partner decided that my hairy moo was reason to stop going down, then he'd soon find himself without any sex at all

rwalker · 25/08/2018 17:59

can't wait for the pensinoer version

museumum · 25/08/2018 18:40

I haven’t really looked closely at another woman’s hairless vulva but although I’ve never shaved it waxed mine I can tell you now the skin would look awful. I mean properly gross like a plucked chicken. Maybe it’s my skin/hair type but I cannot imagine any pubic style worse than a spotty one.
I must be the only person to feel this way though as I read on here so much about it being “smooth” and “childlike” when people choose to remove 🙁

amusedbush · 25/08/2018 18:48

I’m 28 and I used to wax it all off but years of pain, expense, fighting ingrown hairs and finally a persistent dose of ringworm after trying a new salon and I’ve given up. I clip it really short with clippers and run a razor over anything that pokes out of my massive M&S knickers.

YourMilkshakeIsBetterThanMine · 25/08/2018 18:48

I love my 70s bush

ChocolateDoll · 25/08/2018 19:34

Bugger the pubes.

I can’t even believe this programme is allowed on TV Confused

SauvignonBlanche · 25/08/2018 19:38

I just watched a bit of it, it made me feel sick 🤢

OddBoots · 25/08/2018 19:47

The question isn't why any of them are fully shaved but why they all seem to be. There will be a range of grooming decisions among the population so are the producers only choosing bare women to go on or are only bare women applying?

Fairylea · 25/08/2018 19:53

Did people watch the same show we did? Lots of the women had varying degrees of pubic hair. All the vulvas were completely different. All the boobs and bodies were different. Some skinny, some curvy. None “love island perfect”. To me it was very akin to a life drawing class line up! I think it’s interesting, the one thing it shows is that there is no “normal” and no one ever fancies the same types.

SauvignonBlanche · 25/08/2018 19:56

I only watched the first bit, six naked fully shaved women (one with a shaving rash) and Josh, the virgin. I couldn’t take any more.

annandale · 25/08/2018 19:56

It was interesting subscribing to omgyes. Range of pube choices on show but the ingrowing hair spots/shaving rash on the less hairy ones were noticeable.

It shouldn't matter what people choose. I got over it slightly when i realised i liked my bush because im pale skinned and datk haired and i thought the contrast was atractive. But the expense and pain involved ate depressing to think about.

Bookridden · 25/08/2018 19:56

Any doctors or nurses able to confirm if being a baldie is an age thing? Anyone in here under 30 sporting a bush? I'm mid 40s with a luxuriant undergrowth, but I do trim.

AbeautifulBeast · 25/08/2018 20:11

Mmmm I rocked a seriously full bush up to being about 33 then had it waxed off. Where do I fit in with the 'pressure' on young women?
For what it's worth my DH loves it but if I wanted a bush I would go back to having one!
I am keeping it hair free though because i like itHmm

anniehm · 25/08/2018 20:34

Personal preference. Shaving however means itching, if you want to give it a go, pay for professional waxing 4-6 times a year works for me.

BossWitch · 25/08/2018 21:58

You clearly have far more accommodating pubes than I do, anniehm. When I used to wax into a Brazilian I needed a salon visit every 6 weeks. My pubes put up a fight!

needyourlovingtouch · 25/08/2018 22:35

I'm 30 and hate having hair. It's not for anyone else and I don't actually know my DH preference. I feel cleaner. And before anyone starts the hair isn't dirty rant, it's just my preference. I don't like having long hair on my head either!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 25/08/2018 23:11

Why do you watch this pap? Is fanny-watching a 'thing' now? I can't imagine fixating to such a degree on what other women do with their public hair. It's really creepy. Confused

BartholinsSister · 27/08/2018 12:31

Never mind the pubes, why don't they show the men erected? If the premise is to judge naked bodies for sexual appeal, surely they'd need to be erect.
