Naked Attraction: where are the pubes??

I know, I know, it's a dreadful programme, but it's hilarious. But none of the women have any pubic hair. Is this really the norm now? I find that really sad.

I think CatchEmAll has summed it up nicely.

MissBlue I hear ya!

swanlife · 03/09/2018 08:51

I'm 19 and the pressure to conform is awful. I don't shave but I always worry about getting intimate with new people that they'll hate my (rather neat) pubes. My ex boyfriend wasn't bothered but I'm single again now and it is a worry.
It's a choice for individuals, I know some of my friends wax, but it creates the expectation and teenage boys my age do tend to expect it. I just avoid dating at the moment.
I don't care about what individuals do but I do care about the culture it creates. It's really not nice and causes a lot of stress.

Maidsrus · 03/09/2018 09:44

Swanlife that’s very sad to hear but very true. As a 40 odd year old I’ve got the confidence to do what I want, but I’d hate to be your age and meeting new partners. And men can be very cruel in how they talk about women. Maybe the thing to do is get to know them, try to make sure they’re one of the nice ones before getting intimate.

Ledkr · 03/09/2018 09:49

To those who are totally hairless, how do you do It?
Surely waxing needs to grow back a bit before it's re waxed?
Shaving my legs and pits is a bloody faff enough so I can't imagine having to do my foof as well (all this nooks and crannies)
I feel a bit sad about it all as well but as a lifelong leg and arm pit shaver I feel I can't say a lot.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/09/2018 18:01

Ledkr, I go to the salon every five weeks and I've been doing it for years, so many that my regrowth is slow, hair is fine (I'm blonde anyway).

I couldn't shave again, I got dreadful 'metal rash', waxing is great though - liberating, for me anyway.

I don't feel sad about all this, just resigned really. I think that women are legion and actually hold all the sexual cards. If we wanted to, we could determine that any man that is allowed close enough to see whether we have pubic hair or not, would only be there if he were deemed worthy of that. Instead of proffering ourselves in the hope that we are. That's what's wrong, in my opinion.

Everyoneiswingingit · 03/09/2018 18:22

Lying can I ask a personal question? Obviously you don't have to answer. I wax myself but only the area outside of knickers, so tops of legs outside of a triangle and inside of legs and any growth on bum cheeks yes it's normal people!!!)
Iused to go to a salon to get it down and it felt quite intimate. when you have the very intimate area done, are you completely bare down there? is that not super painfull??

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/09/2018 18:48

Everyone, I won't lie to you, the first time was excruciating. I could never do what you do and wax myself. I'd be walking around with strips half on/half off, resolutely refusing to pull them off! Shock

It is intimate, no doubt about that, and that's why I have the same beautician, I've been going to her for about 10 years now and she's great. I don't have hot wax, I find the 'plucking' very painful so it's just strips and they work well.

In my experience, the beauticians are well trained and they are oblivious to your lumps and bumps, they only care for getting you as smooth as you've asked for.

... and yes, I'm completely bare down there. I'm going on Thursday and a pre-wax paracetamol works wonders for me. I don't go just before a period as this is apparently a more painful time to choose - and not during a period either as I'd be fretting about my tampon being 'whipped out' with a strip.

I'm happy to answer questions about my own experience. In case you wondered, knees are actually the most painful for me, followed closely by outer thighs - and then inner labia. Underarm is a breeze, ditto lip and eyebrows. :)

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/09/2018 18:51

I do wear knickers though - just bikini briefs, not those paper monstrosities. Knickers are handy for getting a good 'stretch'.

CatchEmAll · 03/09/2018 19:31

Everyone I disagree about females, I think a females privates are mostly very attractive, more so without lots of hair (not necessarily completely bald though.) Men I agree with are not that attractive down there!

I'm not a lesbian either, but I do appreciate that the female body, including genital area is beautiful.

Everyoneiswingingit · 04/09/2018 19:29

Lyin I use cold wax strips at home. I usually have a glass of wine first! Grin
I'm glad you wear knickers. I just feel for these beauticians!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 04/09/2018 21:33

I don't wear knickers for my Hollywood wax, my waxer prefers me not to

Everyoneiswingingit · 04/09/2018 22:09

Nice

NicoAndTheNiners · 04/09/2018 22:15

Is waxing painful?

I currently shave but am thinking of changing to waxing....or sugaring? Anyone tried sugaring?

Prometheus · 04/09/2018 22:30

Surprise surprise. The only woman with pubes is eliminated first as he prefers it “tidy”. Young people have been fucking brainwashed!!

CatchEmAll · 05/09/2018 18:41

Prom I take it you don't shave your armpits or legs then?

One woman was au natural completely so she had very dark haired legs which looked like what we commonly see on men, a hairy fanj and hairy under arms. She was rejected for not being tidy so how is that different?

Or is it ok to shave your perfectly natural underarm/legs for vanity but not your fanjo?

Skyejuly · 05/09/2018 19:41

I dont shave my underarms!

springmachine · 05/09/2018 19:48

The lack of pubes initallly made me think that it was the producers making them shave.
Last week there was one person with minimal pubes which was better than nothing.

I'm only just in my 30's and found out last night that I could plait my lives (without looking)

I'm quite impressed and wished I could share the news with more people

springmachine · 05/09/2018 19:49

I'm my opinion it looks worse on naked attraction wen you see someone who shaves and a little bit spiky than someone with a bit of a bush that's soft.

It's healthy, and there for a reason!

WrongKindOfFace · 05/09/2018 19:56

Do what you want with your bits (I’ve tried both but lean toward the lazy side) but god that programme is unpleasant.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 08/09/2018 16:29

I saw the end of an episode where the woman chooser was naked. The presenter woman asked the final 2 blokes if they minded her having pubic hair like it was a bad thing and really odd that she had it!

AnnPerkins · 08/09/2018 16:43

I’m 49 and my mum always used to shave completely. Think my sister did too. I couldn’t, and still can’t, be bothered.

I have a question to those who wax - how long does it get before each waxing? Aren’t there periods of quite hairiness between the bald times?

HelenaDove · 08/09/2018 17:24

Catch em i dont wax my legs I can no longer afford it so the last time it was done was at Christmas 2015.

i dont like shaving. i dont have a steady enough hand and its too time consuming.

i have my hair professionally cut and coloured so thats where the money goes. i used to be able to afford both but with the rising cost of food its impossible. So i had to make a choice. I do have my lip and chin waxed but thats only £12.

vanillapieandicecream · 08/09/2018 17:41

It is all about personal preference, isn't it? I appreciate a quick tidy up (and do the same) but I don't like the look of bald on either gender. DH is the same.

WipsGlitter · 08/09/2018 17:48

I watched this for the first time last night. What I though was interesting was that most of them were a bit stubbly. Surely if you were going to get it out on tv you'd have if freshly waxed. Some looked as if they had shaving rash as well.

Noticed the presenter continually referred to 'vagina'. I immediately thought mumsnet would not approve it's a vulva!!

Prometheus · 14/09/2018 22:41

Goodness me. A fifty year old man....surely his female options should have pubes? But no, all shaven. Apparently he doesn’t like pubes and likes inner lips that don’t hang!!!! Am I living in a parallel universe??!!
