Naked Attraction: where are the pubes??

I know, I know, it's a dreadful programme, but it's hilarious. But none of the women have any pubic hair. Is this really the norm now? I find that really sad.

This whole programme is weird. The woman he picked seemed repulsed by him and he was in contact with the other one anyway. I think they shouldn't get to see their faces they should literally just pick on the bodies.

Jocko71 · 07/10/2018 11:48

I just discovered this show (as I don't live in the UK). I find the absence of pubic hair on the women very disappointing. It's as if a fad has become compulsory. Let's sign a petition to bring female pubes back.

StarlightLady · 13/01/2019 08:11

Surely whether or not you choose to sport pubic hair is a personal choice that she not be a problem to anyone else.

I am in my 40s, a feminist, and the only hair on my body is on my head. It has been my peronal choice for as many years as I can remember from late teens. It is not porn inspired and I don’t do it for anyone else, I do it for me. For me it feels tidier and cleaner (especially in warm weather and during periods) and I think it looks nicer. It also increases sensitivity.

As for “Naked Attraction”, it has attracted people of all shapes and sizes which has been nice. I also find it interesting to see what they wear when they get dressed.

But why oh why do they insist of using the word vagina instead of labia?

rebelrosie12 · 13/01/2019 08:21

Interesting thread... I once watched naked attraction and there was a woman who was really hairy and unshaven (vulva, armpits, legs). The guy was attracted to her and chose her, commenting that he liked her attitude.....then when it came to them coming back in to the studio....she had shaved it all off 'for him'. Confused

I only know one friend who gets waxed regularly down there.

Stuckmom · 13/01/2019 08:42

In 30s here, I'm mostly hairless. That is because radiotherapy killed my hair follicles though. Although before then, from the age of 18 when i because sexually active I mainly shaved/waxed it some/all of it off. It changed with my mood really sometimes it was hard sometimes it was just my bikini line I tended to other times i had a landing strip other times nothing at all.
most of my friends have it all off I have one or two that don't like it so have a small amount their. One sister is 25 she has nothing, my other 22 had a bush.....how do I even know this hahaha

DH since we met 8 years ago has always kept it trimmed or shaved and maintains every 2/3 days as do I, I'd have no problem with him growing it out if he wanted to nor we would he if I did, only I can't haha. We each do it because we want to and never expect anything of the other, pubic hair isn't high on my list of priorities if I didn't have time to maintain for a week or two it wouldn't bother me, as long as my bits my face, my pits and hair is clean I'm happy haha

LostaraYil · 13/01/2019 08:42

The thing that has shocked me the most is that some kids aged around 13, when being taught about reproduction, don't actually realise that women get pubic hair. There is absolutely an expectation that women should be bald and the reaction in a classroom to seeing an image of a naked woman with a full bush would probably put most of the girls off having hair for life. Clearly many very young boys have already seen porn and formed expectations!

Stuckmom · 13/01/2019 08:44

And oh my god why are people that desperate they need to stand naked on national tv to get a date! I think that's a more pressing issue. Lol

importantkath · 13/01/2019 09:38

I agree @Stuckmom

StarlightLady · 13/01/2019 09:46

They come with scars, bumps and spots. Real people. They are both sex positive and body confident although far from being models. Both are plusses in my book.

AmateurPrepper · 13/01/2019 09:47

You guys bump some weird as fuck threads. Sunday morning, full day ahead, let's search out an old pube thread and tell people about my shaving habits.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 13/01/2019 09:51

Those of you saying’well it CANT be porn because I’ve not got any and I’ve never watched porn’ aren’t really getting it. It is porn’s influence on popular culture and societal norms rather than on individuals.

binkybea · 13/01/2019 09:54

My dd was told by her biology teacher that most women shave their pubic hair, she is thirteen!

I discussed it with her and said that it goes in and out of fashion and is a personal choice.

😆

OrgyofSausages · 13/01/2019 10:05

It's such a ghastly programme though isn't it? choosing a 'date' based solely on the appearance of someone's genitalia, all of them lined up in fish tanks like specimins in some weird scientist's lab, or a travelling freak show. How anyone can think this show is forward thinking or in any way acceptable is beyond me.Hmm.

No wonder our youth are so fucked up, if things like this are the new 'entertainment' Sad.

OrgyofSausages · 13/01/2019 10:07

It reminds me of the way slave masters would be invited to choose their slaves at the local market, all of them lined up in manacles, prodding and poking them like cattle, looking at their teeth and so on.

Goodness me how society has progressed, eh? Hmm.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 13/01/2019 10:24

It’s grotesque, orgy

StarlightLady · 13/01/2019 14:05

The ancient Romans and ancient Greeks practiced pubic hair removal; it’s nothing new.

And essential to most women who wear a bikini or a swimming costume.

Thatsalovelycuppatea · 13/01/2019 14:23

I think programmes like this. Should be banned. It's not the way a relationship works and you should not choose someone based on their body. What if the person ended up in a wheelchair it would never work would it because it's not based on basic foundations.

OrgyofSausages · 13/01/2019 18:34

The ancient Romans also kept slaves and routinely sent people to violent deaths in the gladiatorial fights, starlightlady. You're really not selling it.[hmm[.

madcatladyforever · 13/01/2019 18:41

I don't have any and I'm almost 60 I've never liked body hair on men or women, I hate underarm hair on men and find it smelly and unpleasant to look at.
I don't have relationships anymore but feel lighter without in some way.

StarlightLady · 13/01/2019 19:38

But I am not trying to sell anything. Feminism and hair removal are compatible.

I don’t have a bush under each armpit (l don’t consider it to be hygienic )and I don’t want one between my legs either. It’s more comfortable for me and my personal choice. It’s a lifestyle choice. Neither do I want hairs creeping out when l go swimming. Most women remove some hair but the extent they do it varies. But it is not just to create a pleasure park for men.

I have not argued that those who choose to do something else with regard to grooming should change.

Most men shave their faces, again a lifestyle choice.

As for ancient Romans and slaves, not quite on topic, the UK’s track record in far more recent times is hardly exemplary. The ancient Romans and Greeks also gave us philosphers, mathematicians and astronomers. Not to mention medicine and public baths (hygiene) while in other parts of the world, many people were wallowing in their own filth.

Oblomov19 · 13/01/2019 19:47

It is a change. And I don't like it. I think that's allowed!!

Justanotherlurker · 13/01/2019 21:03

I think programmes like this. Should be banned.

We have a mary whitehouse here.

The people who go onto the program are not forced at gun point, neither are they forced at gun point to shave, its a cultural shift the can't be
100% pinned on porn starting it or highlighting a trend.

No wonder our youth are so fucked up, if things like this are the new 'entertainment'

The youth are always fucked up, mini skirts where the downfall of civilization, then punks, then rave and indie/ womans "lad" culture of not appeasing to stereo types.

Its a generational thing, the arguments made today are in the same puritanical vein as mini skirts in the 60's and the generational differences since.

GeneandFred · 13/01/2019 21:07

I have no hair down there.

Sod all to do with porn or anything else but my personal preference. I don't think "sad"

GeneandFred · 13/01/2019 21:07

*it's

BreconBeBuggered · 13/01/2019 21:23

The thing with Naked Attraction is that we see young women being praised for having neat and tidy genitals. That, to me, is what's disturbing and misleading. People like different things, on themselves and on potential sexual partners. I don't think fostering the idea that certain styles or looks (talking about labia as much as pubic hair) are intrinsically better than others, is a good thing.
