Naked Attraction: where are the pubes??

I know, I know, it's a dreadful programme, but it's hilarious. But none of the women have any pubic hair. Is this really the norm now? I find that really sad.

OP posts:

I can pretty much guarantee that I wouldn't notice what a man had done with his pubes.

Things are slightly different though between males and females. Hair on a male doesn't particularly obscure or hide anything. If you enjoy the sight of a penis he'd have to have a serious bush to cause it to be hidden away.

I guess it is just life that if you share a common preference yourself then great. Plenty of females do prefer the look/feel.

If you don't, guess you might resent the fact that it is a common preference. But it is what it is.

annandale · 02/09/2018 10:19

He thought it made his balls more visible. I didn't have much of a thing for visible balls at the time.

I actually don't resent a preference but am also one of those who thinks it's hugely influenced by external factors and culture. As I said up the thread, I have a pretty full bush not because I'm playing feminist bingo but because I grew up on my cousins' 70s copies of Mayfair and I feel much more attractive with a lovely bush; but yes, I do shave the thigh parts so what's the difference really. Also because I'm cheap and a coward about pain. Incredibly schoolmarmish beautician aged about 18 got very chippy with me when I was 30, trying my first pussy wax and saying 'stop that's enough' as she ripped my upper thighs apart. A great pleasure to walk away with an unmolested Area while she had cat's bum face. Still cost me £80 because I am luxuriantly hairy from my top lip to my toes; I'm a Lumea fan now.

MeMyselfand · 02/09/2018 10:21

Has nobody heard that pubes are back in fashion?!

One plus of the hair free phase is its nearly eradicated crabs, yes their numbers have declined. They are thinking of putting them on the endangered species list

fattyboomboomboom · 02/09/2018 10:29

The only way to vote for Bush and feel ok about it.

BitOfFun · 02/09/2018 10:43

Marilyn Monroe was not "hairless from the neck down", but she did bleach her pubic hair, at least sometimes.

One of her preferred photographers, Eve Arnold, had this anecdote:

"When she opened the door, she was wearing a diaphanous, totally see-through black negligee, her feet were bare, and she was holding a hairbrush in her hand. In a few minutes the interviewer arrived, and when she was seated and looking into her bag for notebook and pencil, Marilyn asked the woman if she minded if she brushed her hair. “Of course not,” the woman replied, and when she looked up, Marilyn was brushing her pubic hair. The woman was so startled that she sputtered her way through the interview and left very quickly."

So yeah, she had pubes.

Hairlessness has gone out of fashion (I'm 23). Most people I know keep it 'neat' so it doesn't escape swimwear but some let it grow naturally (I do). For some people it's a fashion statement (not as much now as three years ago) and for some it's just not wanting to remove any (me). Complete Hairlessness is seen as a bit 'chavy' or pornographic. Something that you would expect on HD brow girls, not Naice ones. Most common seems to be a little triangle or a landing strip thingy but it varries.

Skyejuly · 02/09/2018 10:51

Im 32 and spent about 5yrs being totally clean waxed or shaved. I used to think:

' I do it for me'
'It feels cleaner'
'I prefer it'

But actually I was being conditioned by a patriarchal society to believe it was my own choice. It wasnt.

Now I embrace it. I love it. Feel so womanly and healthier, no time wasted now.

Racecardriver · 02/09/2018 10:55

@MrsJBaptiste my legs and underarms itch when the hair grows back. Sensitive skin. Unfortunately I only have hair on my caves so have to shave it off once a month or so to avoid this weird thing when I sleep where my cages feel like they are in an oven while my feet and thighs are freezing.

kmc1111 · 02/09/2018 11:03

I started waxing everything off in the 70’s. It’s not actually a remotely new practice, just somewhat new-ish to the Western world. All my older female relatives used sugaring to remove every hair below their eyebrows, and that practice was passed down through many, many generations.

In nearly 5 decades of hair removal I’ve never had any kind of infection in that area, and anyone confusing me with a child at any time in that period would need their eyesight checked.

placemats · 02/09/2018 11:21

I was watching Plague last night and it was just as disconcerting to see women with hair everywhere, underarm, pubes, legs! I think it added to the sexual frisson, though obviously not in the brothel scenes which were as sexy as a wet haddocks bathing suit.

Post menopause here and I've noticed a thinning of pubes. Rather than develop the equivalent of a pubes comb over, I have decided that less is best. It's good to know I'm keeping up with trends!

JAPAB · 02/09/2018 11:25

He thought it made his balls more visible. I didn't have much of a thing for visible balls at the time.

Few do, or at least that is the oft-repeated notion. Whereas it's a different story the other way around. Plenty of males do like to see the bits and details of female genitalia. I know from discussions with males that for some being able to see the vulva can produce a visceral response, like they want to bury their faces in it or something. Whereas if its a patch of hair then that is a bit more "ordinary" a sight. Hair on heads etc.

Guess for such males it doesn't produce quite the same 'I just want to bury my face in that patch of hair' response.

Those who say that it is just a "fashion", I suspect liking to see the bits and details, the difference in sights and difference in feel, could go a bit deeper than that. Or at least for some anyway.

sparkling123 · 02/09/2018 15:57

I watched the same one, guilty pleasure! Was it just me or did anyone else think most of the men looked like they shaved their balls?
This program makes me cringe but once I start watching I can't stop, especially the awkward date part and the full on snogs for the camera ConfusedGrin

misstblue2 · 02/09/2018 17:21

about 3 years ago i immacced (sp) my bikini line, only while i was waiting for the cream to work i sat down and crossed my legs.
wash the cream off and i'm left with a bold fanny with long wispy hair down the middle.
they have never grown backGrin
its like a bald head with a comb over down there Blush

MeMyselfand · 02/09/2018 20:01

misstblue2 😂😂😂 what a lovely mental picture you have painted. How has it never grown back?!

Littlechocola · 02/09/2018 20:19

@misstblue2 that’s hilarious!
I once tried the completely bald look. Sadly I was incredibly unwell with depression and thought it would make me more attractive, sexier and make my partner love me more. He apparently already felt all of those things and was upset that I felt that I had to do it.

CatchEmAll · 02/09/2018 20:29

Missblue that's hilarious! GrinGrin

CatchEmAll · 02/09/2018 20:39

People have some weird assumptions about pubic hair removal. It takes about 30 seconds, it's not painful to shave and not everyone finds it itchy.

Who cares what's in fashion now? Younger people going au natural to go against the shaved look - good for them. But personally I don't care what's in fashion or what everyone else is doing or not doing with their genitalia because I like mine shaved and that's my personal preference.

Cutesbabasmummy · 02/09/2018 20:53

Both me and DH find no hair at all slightly creepy. It's like looking at a pre pubescent girl. Full bush trimmed here.

Doboopedoo · 02/09/2018 21:02

Am I the only one who immacs? (Apart from misst2blue who doesn’t need to anymore!) although not hugely frequently.
Daft question in my 30s - for those trim, how are you doing it? Always been tempted by the idea but unsure of logistics, i think with a beard trimmer type thing I would take chunks out of bits I would rather not! Plus I’m not sure I have the bendiness to get to all the bits.... Smile

esk1mo · 02/09/2018 22:13

omg everyone, put the razors down because cutesbabsmummy AND her DH don’t like fully shaved!

fuck. we all better grow our bushes out ASAP before they somehow magically see our vag’s and compare us to pre-pubescent girls for the millionth time.

CatchEmAll · 02/09/2018 22:30

It's all preference isn't it. I was the first woman my dh (late 30s) saw shaved (not completely bald though) because his ex wife had a full bush. He was surprised at first but doesn't mind either way. I prefer it shaved but if I ever decide to go full bush one day that's my decision.

CatchEmAll · 02/09/2018 22:31

I think most men aren't going to turn down a bit of action because of hair/no hair.. Grin

Ollivander84 · 02/09/2018 22:37

34 here (and single) and finding interestingly the man men I'm seeing are quite vocal about preferring hair which is a big change
I also do some nude modelling and it's definitely a fashion to have a bush now

Everyoneiswingingit · 02/09/2018 23:26

Bush all the way! Those bits, make or female, are not the most attractive. A bit of a furry blur works wonders. Grin

DontCallMeCharlotte · 02/09/2018 23:39

There were pubes before the 70s you know!

Anyway OP I think you've answered your own question: I wonder if it'll go the other way one day, and hipsters will embrace being hairy again. You only have to look at (male) hipsters' chins to see where the pubes are Grin
