Name changed but I’ve seen 2 threads about fish and chips tonight - I have a chippy (away hence not working) AMA

How old are the eggs in the pickled eggs jar?

how many chips to make the perfect chip butty?

Do you like fish and chips yourself, or does owning it put you off?

Also do you have regulars who come more than once a week who also manage to stay slim? And if so, does it depend on their job, if you know it? (eg builders/manual workers who burn it off etc)

Does anyone ever bring you chocolate bars and ask you to batter and fry them?

Do you cook the books as well as the fish & chips? They used to be notorious for that.

Are cheese and onion fryits still being manufactured? No chippy I've been to has had them for the last several years.

Our local chippy (East Midlands) has these. I love them but don’t think they go with fish. So I have mine as a starter.

Do you sell vegetarian or vegan options?

What’s the fish batter made of? Is there such a thing as a ready bought mix, or is it your own recipie?

I don’t know I refuse to sell them for that very reason

How are you surviving? The cost of fish & chips must be limiting the number of customers you have.

We're a family of 6 plus girl/boyfriends which makes it too expensive for us to buy fish and chips more than a couple of times a year.

Depends if it’s on warburtons bread (the best for a butty) or a barm. We put about 8oz in a barm but I would say about 8 for a warburtons (we do very big chips)

I love them and have them once a week. I have a much smaller portion of chips than we give out though. Mine is a fish, about 10 chips and peas

I have no questions but I'm craving fish & chips because of these threads now.

I love pickled food but I’ve never tried a pickled egg. I feel rather queasy just looking at them sitting on the shelf 🤢
