I’d also recommend the Dreamland heated throws. I have a thick faux fur one and a thinner one that’s like a blanket. The fur one is by far the best. I use it when I watch tv and I don’t need the heating on at all. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought. I’ve had mine for over 4 years.

It's pricey but it's an absolute dream, costs barely anything to run and you will feel so warm and snug under it you can save money on heating. One of my most favorite possessions.

Tried and tested: Read our Dreamland Hygge Days Heated Blanket review

This faux fur heated throw from Dreamland is by far the most recommended on the Mumsnet forums. I tested it for myself and can confirm it's worth the hype!

It's soft, thick and great quality, with a long power cord and easy to use controls. You can even pop it in the washing machine and it'll be dry within 24 hours. My dog Rosie is a massive fan too, as you can see.

While I prefer a thinner heated throw to wrap around me while I WFH (specifically the Dreamland Hurry Home Herringbone Heated Throw) the Dreamland Hygge Days Heated Blanket is the best one for snuggling up on the sofa with. Down from £130 to £90 for Black Friday, this is the cheapest it's ever been.

It is marvellous. We have a dual zoned Silentnight one so DH and I can each have our side independently on, off or on different settings. It wasn’t expensive

How to find the best deals on electric blankets

Whether you're planning on some early Christmas shopping or you're stocking up on cosy buys before a winter cold snap, there are big savings to be had on electric blankets and heated throws this autumn.

It's worth doing a little research before to see the brands Mumsnetters are recommending to ensure what you're getting is worth the cost, even at a reduced rate. We know how time-poor busy parents can be though, so to make life easier, we'll be doing all the hard work and research for you, filtering out the dud deals and finding those hidden gems. If an electric blanket or heated throw is on your shopping list this year, bookmark this page and check back as we'll be updating it regularly with all the top discounts we find.

When do Black Friday electric blanket deals start?

Black Friday is on 29th November this year. As Black Friday has grown in popularity in the UK, most retailers kick off their sales earlier in the month.

Another date for bargain-hunters' diaries is Amazon Prime Day. In 2024, this two-day event fell on 8th and 9th October and saw prices slashed across Amazon on electric blankets, heated throws and more.

Discounts usually stay live through the weekend until Cyber Monday (2nd December), so you can snap up a cheap electric blanket deal. We wouldn't recommend hanging around though - stock can move fast in the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales and we expect prices to go up on Tuesday 3rd December.

How much does an electric blanket cost to run?

With the ongoing cost of living crisis, many Mumsnetters are investing in an electric blanket or heated throw to save on energy bills in the long run. To work out how much an electric blanket will cost you per hour, check the wattage and input it into the energy cost calculator, which will then give you an estimated running cost. Keep in mind that the lower the heat setting, the less power it will use too.
