Deary me. What a load of virtue signalling wank.

Tallisker · 13/10/2026 15:33

Rolly eyes 🙄

CompleteGinasaur · 13/10/2026 15:47

No CompleteGinasaur buy.

BridgetYourFortyDaysAreUp · 13/10/2026 15:53

It's a nice little libel suit waiting in the wings, too, if She Who Must Not Be Named is so inclined. 😁

(I doubt she would. They probably don't have any money. She could pursue for a written, public apology, though)

UnaPersson · 13/10/2026 16:07

These people know how to make a stand. 🙄

MomOfBirmingham · 13/10/2026 16:08

I read something really interesting (probably on here) about this whole thing.

These fools arent remotely interested in putting resource into stopping the 'bad thing'. It's all about performatively demonstrating that they aren't part of of the bad thing.

I mean, imagine feeling this virtuous that you dont have a sewing kit in stock. Riding so high on the edgy wave of not doing something that you put it on your business page.

Not that they've donated a percentage of their profit to a relevant charity, or they source a range of designs from starving unemployed transwomen... Literally that they haven't ordered a sewing kit from the supplier.

Who's that helping? What's the purpose?
Fuck all. Helping nobody. Doing nothing. Meaningless. Just waving a flag to signal their self-percieved moral superiority.

alcovecupboards · 13/10/2026 17:56

So just to be clear - they are choosing not to sell things associated with someone they dislike, and that's bad. But an organised Mumsnet boycott because you don't like something the store is doing - is good? The hypocrisy never ends here, does it?

Pudmyboy · 13/10/2026 18:00

Who is organising a boycott? One poster has said 'one to avoid then', some boycott!

CompleteGinasaur · 13/10/2026 18:08

So we're going to descend on Penrith en masse to... what? Block up the road outside a tiny tourist trap shop in order to performatively not buy something?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/10/2026 19:19

I suspect we won't all be pouring bottles of piss in their doorway to emphasise our displeasure with them. Because it's men who do that, to mark their territory or some such.

Maybe they are irritating the right people when they go for ones who on the whole don't go for them back. A sort of poor man's version of being on the right side of history, or something.

PrancingPanda · 13/10/2026 19:27

'Fuels hate, persecutes people for being true to themselves, spreads lies and divides communities'
So much for be kind- again, showing vitriol and spite coming one way
FFS can they hear themselves? Were do they get this stuff??
What a load of hyperbolic bulls poop

As for 'true to themselves' - no. The flipping opposite.

EmpressDomesticatednottamed · 13/10/2026 19:57

Crikey, well it's very obviously not a space for everyone, if I go bead shopping I prefer not the have to face a lecture. I bypassed a cafe the other week because the front windows were lavishly decorated with exhortations about love and being kind, I went somewhere else where I could have a coffee and a bun in peace. Being true to myself naturally.

KnownTroublemaker · 13/10/2026 19:59

Oh well.

readbutdonotpostoften · 13/10/2026 20:04

I did think there were parts of the country which remained sensible, Cumbria being one of them (well most of it) but obviously not!

Pancakeflipper · 13/10/2026 20:09

I just dislike the virtue signalling - gets them some publicity though doesnt it? Don't think they've been open long.

Hopefully the wonderful bookshop in Penrith will keep their views off social media so I can just buy lovely things without division.

TheBayHorse · 13/10/2026 20:11

As a Cumbrian, I'm embarrassed for them. "Our shop is for everyone" except those who understand basic biology.

To be fair I will probably avoid them to. I’ve managed to avoid Penrith for the last 35 odd years and have no immediate plans to return so it should be a fairly simple process.

Bead Shopping 🛍️-that has made me laugh !

Saucery · 13/10/2026 20:33

Ah Beads And Bows, the last bastion of the crafting world purity spiral. 🙄
There will no doubt be a trans identifying male in one of the groups who has thrown his needles out of the case about HP embroidery kits. People who want one will order online/go somewhere else.

They are perfectly welcome to boycott JKR if they want to. They should not be libelling her. They seem to be unaware of the difference.

MatronPomfrey · 13/10/2026 20:48

Wonder if these are new kits? Will be looking for a new project once I’ve finished my new scarf using the new Ravenclaw self-striping yarn.

I seem to remember that nothing on the internet used to be more vicious than the knitting community, but maybe the transphiliacs have overtaken them.

BackToLurk · 13/10/2026 22:45

They are unironically selling this. Bless them.

I remember a thread a good few years ago about crafters and how vicious and mad they can be. They were banning people from wool shops & using pattern resources and I don't know what else.

It sounded like a parody of something but it was real.
