This man's claims about his gender identity are relevant because until recently the policy was that he should be able to self identify into a women's prison and that everyone in court, including his victim, should refer to him using his preferred pronouns and the media would simply have called him a woman.

As far as we know Lisa Nandy still thinks this should be the case.

These things have only changed because women have made their voices heard, at no small cost to themselves.

Before the great trans beatification when we realised that no man pretending to be a woman would ever ever commit a crime, it was commonplace for experienced Police officers to warn the rookies that men who dressed as women were disproportionately likely to be involved in sex related crimes. The MOJ figures suggests that this is still true of the most serious rapes and assaults. I think it’s helpful for women to talk about that.

Publicising the names and images of rapists frequently helps other, previously unknown, victims get justice. This is well-documented and I’m astounded you would stand in the way of this.

Interesting that it’s impossible to tell the difference between ‘tru trans’ (if there is such a thing), and a man who finds in convenient to pretend to be trans for some reason.
Almost as though there is no real difference. And certainly no mechanism for discriminating between them, meaning all must be treated as men.

Prison onset transitioning is an interesting phenomenon. And, I can only imagine, a massive kick in the teeth to his victim, especially if requested to call her attacker she/her.

How does @TransParentlyAnnoyed explain this sudden desire to transition only when arrested? Is it
a) an opportunity to live as their authentic selves? Call me cynical, but it does seem a tad odd timing.
b) a ploy to either reduce the sentence or get more favourable conditions in prison.
c) they think the jury/judge will believe that James not April did the crime and so April shouldn’t be punished?

James Groves's name, image and crimes need to be spread far and wide so people see what we're talking about when we hear about 'transwomen' being put on women's hospital wards, in women's prisons and all the rest.

The comments from both men and women under the Crimewatch post I saw earlier that consistently called this man a woman and she/her were pretty much all pointing out that this is a man and the correct pronouns are he and him.
