Liberal Democrats are voting to scrap the EHRC guidance

Once again Ed Davey shows he is no friend to women

From his Radio 4 interview this morning:

'The Supreme Court created something that we didn't expect.

'We've been working out how to make sure it's implemented properly and we've been waiting for this guidance – it's taken a long time.

'And we think, talking to businesses, they don't think it's clear enough or helpful enough. So we're responding to what other people are saying.'

Words can't express how angry this makes me. He has no idea how women are feeling, has he?

Please, any Lib Dem women still in the party, do what you can to overturn the vote this afternoon

I cannot really articulate why, but of all politicians, I really dislike Ed Davey.

As a good centre leftie I shouldn't dislike him as much as say Farage. But I do.

I think it is his smarmy, privileged cluelessness that does it. His cosy certainty that he's a good guy as opposed to yet another bastard male politician.

Does anyone remember his ill-fated MN webchat? Must be years ago now

His whole 'I'm mad , me' shtick really irritates me.

I genuinely don't know which is more worrying: that they want to scrap the guidance or that they think that there is a point to scrapping the guidance.

How can people paid to be legislators be so ignorant?

Exactly. And btw there is zero point to having a lib dem mp as no one in gov departments etc cares what they say.

The insane thing is that I worry people will vote for him anyway, I have left leaning friends who will not particularly agree with him but don’t really know a lot and dislike the tories so will vote Lib Dem. It’s terrifying, we will end up like Australia.

I live in a Lib Dem stronghold. It is interesting to ask friends why they vote Lib Dem - none of them can name any policies!! It just seems an option they can connect with.

They were given money from a company that makes puberty blockers.

At that moment they changed course and its probably in the small print that they have to keep on and on about this forever.

Well they can vote as they like. As they have no chance of being in power, it's just virtue signalling stupidity, which is exactly what I expect from them.

So they wish to change the law to give a small cohort of people privileges that no one else has because...?

Vote Lib Dem ladies if you want to vote your rights away.

Fortunately I think both the LDs and the Greens will eventually disappear up their own arses in a shower of cognitive dissonance.
We can only hope

Ed did not expect it as he he takes legal advice from Stonewall

I for one was not surprised to find out that the law considers only females to be women.

Well no, Ed, it didn't. It clarified that in law (and indeed in the real world) men are men and women are women, and the one cannot magically become the other.

The fact that this was a surprise to Ed and his TRA advisors shows just how complacent those advocates feel - and how valuable the SC announcement truly is

Well no, Ed, it didn't. It clarified that in law (and indeed in the real world) men are men and women are women, and the one cannot magically become the other.
