I saw this and honestly I don’t get the backlash. This is Sweeney’s thing. It’s what she is known for as she isn’t particularly good actress. Yes it’s very sexualised but…I think creating a huge backlash is almost counter productive.

The ad is not really about female sports athletes. It is aimed at males betting on sports. She is an attractive female. It’s pretty simple.

I can’t help but feel that Sydney Sweeney gets a lot of hate because she has naturally big boobs. People says she only got famous because of it but do they have any idea how rare it is for a female star to make it with large breasts?
Almost every young star these days is tall and skinny as a rake with no boobs. Sydney is the exception to the rule and I for one am glad to see someone with a more normal body making it big and being seen as attractive. As a girl who grew up self conscious of her naturally large breasts I think it’s great to see someone embrace them and not be ashamed of them. Because it feels like if a more model type figure did similar add campaigns they would t be trashed quite so much. I’ve heard females reporters describe her as cartoonish or grotesque! No she has boobs. Real ones. Get over it.

There were any number of studies showing how sexism, and the constant, continuous, mindless adverts of scantily clad females to sell anything, impacts women in the 90s and early 00s. There were even earlier campaigns to eradicate pg 3 girls because women are more than their sexual value to men, and young women should be able to aspire to be more than sexual value to men. Female athletes have worked and, as Amy Hunt says, given blood, sweat and tears to earn their place and earn their right to be more than a fuck for men. Get over that.

Christ, can't men even think in a time of reducing reproduction that this kind of misogyny is not something any sane woman should ever consider reproducing? Why on earth would any woman with half a mind want to reproduce the scum that treat us as sex objects?
