Just horrific. I can’t begin to imagine how painful this is and all because men decide women must not enjoy sex. I don’t really have the words.

It just shocks me that it’s women who do the procedure. Women who hold down the girls and likely the mothers to the children. I just can’t understand it

The mothers do it because they believe it to be a religious obligation and that their daughter will not be marriageable if it is not done - and she will be 'unclean'. They probably do not understand that problems they have had with the genital area are a consequence of FGM. The clitoris - which seems to be partially removed, or the hood removed in this version of FGM - is a complex organ that we now know wraps the vagina and messing with it will not only reduce or nullify sexual pleasure but have implications for childbearing.
