Man arrested for self identifying as a converted muslim woman.

I think this throws the door open for all kinds of questions about fairness.

Men have been banned from covering their faces at protests so one man identified as a muslim woman and wore a burka, he was arrested.

I've seen 2 media outlets so far with headlines reporting that 'a man' has been arrested.

If we break it down...

If a 'real' muslim woman attends a protest (a Pro Palestine one for example) would she be arrested?

Has he been arrested for wearing the burka or identifying as a woman falsly?

Why is he not believed when he says he is a woman?

After all, it is fluid day to day and just a feeling! And any man can decide to become a woman at any point?

And who says he cannot decide to convert to Islam??

And why is he being reported as 'a man in a burka' when transwomen are NEVER reported this way when they self identify, even after committing rape?!

We all know why he is doing this.

But he is simply playing the establishment at their own game.

Why have so many Palestine protests occoured with men covering their faces with Kaffirs and balaclavas but it only becomes a problem now?

Why is it a problem to self identify now?

Why is it not a problem for a muslim woman to cover her face in a bank or school or park but this 'muslim woman' cannot?

Of course its ridiculous

But the point is that ALL self identification and complete covering of the face in public is ridiculous

But its only this man be arresed and called out for seemingly both things?

Man arrested for self identifying as a converted muslim woman.

If the woman is in the area specifically mapped for the use of this power, and is wearing a face covering to conceal her identity during a protest then yes.

If she happens to live in the area that is mapped and is going about her day and isn't present during a protest then no.

As much as I hate the new Draconian police powers I really don't understand how the right wing always gets away with so boneheadedly not understanding reasonable explanations so that they might play the victim.

He was wearing a very large blade. Yet a couple of months ago, a bloke in Manchester was arrested by plod for carrying a baseball bat in the street he'd just bought from a shop to play baseball with his mate.

He hadn’t just bought it. GMP released a statement. He’d bought it the week before, but he wasn’t eventually charged as they couldn’t demonstrate intent.

A baseball bat can be classified as an offensive weapon.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 23/09/2026 09:47

For a start a baseball bat is not classified as am offensive weapon. A knife is, whether it's small or large.

There must be some logic to you connecting these unrelated events bit I'm afraid I'm not clever enough to discern it. Would be very grateful if you could explain whether you think the Manchester police got it right/wrong and why.

No, Henry Nowak was murdered by a Sikh wearing a tiny harmless kirpan around his neck as a necklace, and also carrying a large Sikh kirpan attached to his belt, which he is legally allowed to carry. Henry was murdered by a Sikh with the Kirpan he was wearing in a sheath attached to his belt.

Edited

This is false, the knife he used is not accepted by most Sikhs as a kirpan and it’s clear Digwa used this description to justify his actions https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c70ylezgr1eo

If it's a summary offence, it'll be tried in the magistrates court.

This is in many ways a mirror image of the Macklemore business, in that when people thought it was aimed at individuals they didn't agree with they didn't say a word about it.

Yes. Henry Nowak a young kid just out for a night with his mates.

It wasn't a kirpan. Though I agree that the exemption for it needs to be revisited.

Maybe he wants his day in court?

You're forgetting about the Juries, unless of course his trial, should he plead not guilty, is one of those new ones where the government have excluded the population from the justice system.
As you say he's in his 70's, he has nothing to lose, this is a new law, if he pleads not guilty it will be tested in court. It could turn out it's an unworkable law, because it was rushed out by the government in its usual kneejerk reaction.
I expect there'll be plenty of interest in the case, should it go to trial, and not just the ones covered by the Omnicause's tedious 'racist, racist, racist' chant,
The example he sets may not be the one you're thinking of.

I heard he got charged. He's in his 70s so he may or may not care about getting a criminal record but it should be a good example for other who want to "play games" with the system.

The only people speaking up for him that I've seen are gender critical activists on here and the racists and neo-Nazis on Twitter. It's clear what side he is on.

And lastly if you know anything about law and court you will know judges really detest people trying to be smart/cocky and play games. If he cares about what happens next, or if anyone else ends up on court for the same reason, the most sensible option is to grow up if you want the judge to go easy on you. Hopefully his lawyer will be telling him that.

It doesn't matter if he's a man or a woman if they have their face covered they have to remove it for the police to be able to identify them. The fact it was a man wearing a burka is totally irrelevant. No one is allowed to cover their face and refuse to remove the covering for the police, particularly in an area where face coverings are specifically banned.

There are exemptions.

www.libertyhumanrights.org.uk/advice_information/crime-and-policing-act-2026-explaining-the-new-protest-restrictions/#page-section-3
You have a defence available if you are covering your face for health, religious or work reasons. For example, if you wear a niqab, or you wear a medical face mask in a designated mask-free zone, you cannot be convicted under this criminal offence. However, this defence only applies after arrest or when a charging decision is made. This means that you could still be arrested, and later have to prove to the police, or in court, that you were covering your face for health, religious or work purposes.
If you are being asked to remove your face covering, you should always ask under what legal power are the police asking you to do this. The police are required to give you this information.

Grammarnut · 14/09/2026 12:34

He is entirely entitled to identify as a Muslim woman who chooses to wear a burka and nikab. We know that gender and belief are fluid things and that tomorrow he may identify as a Rastafarian NB person from Ethiopia because that's how gender works. Certainly, he is playing the system because he is angry at unfettered immigration (as should we all be - it is a state's duty to regulate immigration) and he chose a way of doing that which got him noticed. Why are TRAs not speaking up for him/her/them and demanding compensation for misgendering him/her/them? He is making two good points.

No, Henry Nowak was murdered by some one carrying a kirpan and also another knife. It was the other knife that was used, and the killer was also weapons obsessed, so I don’t think a ban on kirpan would have stopped him carrying a knife.

Well they should. If sikh people can do it, then anyone should be allowed to.

We cannot have different rules for groups of people in our country based on religion.

Of course the real solution isn't everyone carrying a knife so sikhs can, it's not allowing anyone to carry a knife. No exceptions.

We have universal laws and they should be followed by everyone.

Religious exemptions need to end.

One law. For everyone here.

It doesn’t, and neither do people legally carrying kirpan. Most people don’t even carry them, they wear symbols. But unless you’re proposing any of the lawful exemptions for carrying knives are also revoked, pursuing this religious one is meaningless.

Do you mean the bit where he says the police have new powers under the act to ban items intended to conceal identity in a designated area or was there another bit?

He's been arrested for wearing a face covering - it could have been a surgical mask and the outcome would have been the same.

The prohibition is temporary and under Section 158 of the Crime and Policing Act 2025, and bans the wearing of face coverings used to conceal identity during any protest activity.

In addition:
"A Section 60AA order will also be in place, covering the same area. This order gives officers the power to require a person to remove any items being used to conceal their identity, such as masks and face coverings. Any failure to comply can result in the person being arrested."

The self identification is the usual red herring, thrown in by a man who has no comprehension of the law on any front but knows he wants a newspaper headline or five.

He is entirely entitled to identify as a Muslim woman who chooses to wear a burka and nikab.
