More Australian madness. Australia looks to become a destination of choice for men who want to make a career in women’s sport.

How do women who object to the gender scam feel playing alongside him? How do they feel playing against him?
What will be fascinating is comparing his performance stats.
Let's see the basic data for when he (correctly) played in men's trans versus when he now (incorrectly) plays in women's teams.
There was a British male cricketer a few years back, bang average over his career, who went from a batting average of below 20, to well over 100 when he was invited into women's cricket.

That was Kent's Maxine Blythin (mentioned upthread) who played in both the mens and women's teams in the same season iirc. He was a mediocre male performer but outperformed all the women.

Edited to add that women playing alongside these men are generally bullied and coerced into silence. Stonewall captured governing bodies issue threats of sanctions, losing team places and being banned to keep women from raising concerns.

That's why it takes a Sophie Cunningham to break the wall of silence, a high worth visible woman in a high worth visible sport, to be able to come out and state the truth.
A less visible woman in a less visible/moneyed sport, she'll be silenced and censured with no chance of breaking thru.
That's why the campaign against Cunningham is so vitriolic, the trans ideologues know she's the gateway, the conduit for women lower down in sport to at least consider speaking up.
If you can shut Cunningham up, there's no chance for 99.9% of other women.
After a decade plus of reading about this shit, I'm <still> triggered by it.
Women's rights trashed as the West enters the Age Of Stupid.

Nevertheless, you implied that Australia must have cow tailed to a more powerful country when in fact other sporting bodies in Australia have made the same distinction.

The op doesn’t mention the UK. She doesn’t imply that Australia has kowtowed to a more powerful country, you do. Her focus is on male biological advantages. The implication that it’s unfair for a trans identifying male to play in a female league. Unfair to female players and opposing teams made up of biological women. What are your views on that?

Gretel is one of those who believe that biological sex was imposed by the British on societies as imperial rule, those societies previously in a state of gender-based peace and harmony.
Alongside that, trans IDing individuals even in Britain were accepted and held up by us just a few scant decades ago, but second wave feminism went rogue in punching down in imperially dominating sex > gender.
I mean, we can see the evidence in the developing world...all those "third gender" individuals so valued by their indigenous...oh, sorry, just why are they almost all bullied in their countries, so many come to the West to be chewed up in the sex industry?
The truth is, there is no imperial colonial "plot" to impose biological sex as a genocidal factor to wipe out gender as the "correct" way to mark differences between individuals.
This is one of the latest, saddest, faddy attempts to find a framework to pan realists as bigots.
Part of the gender euphoria re-writing of history for the hard of critical thinking on trans/Reddit.
People object to this individual in women's cricket not because they're colonialist imperialist, but because they know he's a man permitted into women's sport.
Quite how the simplest of simple facts became a schism at the heart of the liberal West is a question for the ages.

The ‘simplest of simple facts’ like biological sex in humans is determined at conception by chromosomes and cannot be changed.

Our ancestors never questioned it. They just knew it was true!

What a world we live in now!

Post modernism based on no such things as objective facts, your own lived experience dictates your own facts, those around you adjust to accomodate those facts.
Basically, society becomes a perpetual motion machine version of musical chairs and running around in circles.
Effectively society becomes one not run by adults, but by 7 year olds.
Don't like the rules of the game? Invent some new ones.
And just like the alpha 7 year olds who learn to shout the loudest, bully the hardest, argue the most persistently, and imagine the most crazily, society will line up along the lines of what those 7 year olds deem it so.

When you have ‘so-called adults’ amending The Australian Sex Discrimination Act and then lawyers and judges in the ‘Tickle v Giggle’ case explicitly using this Act to structure their arguments and reach their verdicts, what hope is there?

The hope is in knowing that facts are objective, and our whole liberal Enlightenment settlement was built on objective facts, free speech, and the freedom to have personal beliefs but that these cannot be a cudgel against the majority.
Right now, liberalism is being tied up in knots as the minority deem their personal beliefs to trump objective facts and browbeat the majority.
For me, the battle on trans, the demands of TRA, amounts to the canary in the coalmine as to where post-liberal society could go.
If liberal society as we've always known it is to survive as a worthwhile project, then the hyper illiberalism of trans ideology and it's outsize influence on the West has to be corrected.
Maybe this is why a decade plus on from first reading an article on TRA and thinking WTF?!, I'm still triggered and feel this alongside the West's addiction to open borders is a line in the sand phenomenon, something I can't ever not be animated about.
Maybe TERF Island UK is going to be the holdout for reality and sanity.
Certainly Australia looks lost.

Gretel346 · 28/08/2026 08:21

What I'm actually suggesting is the historical fact that the British colonial system was inherently racist and classist, functioning through the subjugation of indigenous populations as second- and third-class citizens while reinforcing strict social hierarchies not to mention the classist abuse suffered by their colonised convicts.

Irrelevant to this discussion.

If you want to discuss the low representation of Native Australians in the Australian cricket squad, your comments would be relevant to that discussion. So start a new thread on that.

2019 was the year, when Maxine Blythin a transwoman, first played for Kent, topped the batting averages that year and was nominated Kent Woman cricketer of the year. I was amazed and shocked that the England and Wales cricket board, the ECB, which controls the men's and women's game could let this happen. However, maybe this wouldn't have happened, if in 1998, the ECB took over women's cricket from the Women's Cricket Association.
Maxine Blythin went on to play for Wiltshire in 2023.

There was nothimg stopping him from continuing to play cricket in the male league. If disparity and inequality of condition are fine for women in cricket, then they must also be fine for those with trans identities.

Uh oh, looks like the colonial 'rabble' are going 'native' with egalitarian clap trap again. Maybe time for their 'civilised' Victorian British overlords remind them of their place…

You seem happy to use anti-colonisation rhetoric when it suits your point, but seem blind to the 'colonisation' implications involved when male people move in and start to inhabit female sport and everything else which is native and particular to female people.

6ate9 · 28/08/2026 11:35

@MarcTheGenderSkeptic “Maybe TERF Island UK is going to be the holdout for reality and sanity.

At least sex discrimination law in the UK defines sex strictly as biological sex. Australia could learn from us!

Australia is not the dog here, it is the tail being wagged - by an ideology founded on U.S university campuses and then funded by U.S dollars. And that ideology is quite happy to subjugate the established protections, and measures taken to ensure fairness, for female people on its own alter of self righteousness.
Rather than being the sign of a mature country, it is the sign of a juvenile country still struggling to find its identity in the world and in doing so reacting in knee jerk fashion to anything it thinks the adults are doing.

To wearing a bit of eyeshadow, and lipstick probably.
Maybe a wig?
I dunno.

Transitioned? To what?

Gender ideology, a totally circular concept, a Möbius Loop turning in on itself to have no start or end, an endless reflection of mirrors.
Men looking at themselves in the mirror, imagining themselves as women, but instead of the fantasy staying within four walls, it's broken out into the real world, the male ego at its most venal, free to wreak untold damage.
Other men unaffected, most don't even prioritize it (can I get most men I talk to about it to raise a sweat? no). Women? This man content to ruin any number of women's life chances and simple pleasures.

I suspect that as each international sporting federation’s policies become more enforced, and Australian female athletes and women’s rights campaigners gain momentum discussing this in the media and the Brisbane Olympics approaches the Australian sports bodies will start to change their policies.

Of course there is male advantage in female cricket. It is just as obvious as in most other ball sports. There is a reason for lighter equipment and shorter boundaries.

All national sports federations can and do derogate from international governing bodies for domestic competition. Often this is for completely innocent purposes - in my sport of cycling, British Cycling does not enforce tyre width rules for cyclocross for example in the interest of making the sport more accessible. However it can also be for ideological reasons: Cycling USA actively encourages transwomen in female competition. It seems that Cricket Australia have sadly gone down the same route and chosen to derogate from the ICC’s trans policy.

But presumably cyclocross riders just comply with the different rules if they want to compete internationally, so this doesn't limit their ability to progress.

There is no way to change sex.
