I find that Muslim women and the Muslim kids I work with in my area get a kick out of trying to get non Muslims to say it. So possibly that is the same elsewhere. I think it is because one main goal in Islam is to convert the unbelievers so people using this saying is seen as a little win of some sort, not sure.

I could have written this. In my ward, Green volunteers have no clue how to respond to my questions about either gender identity or sectarianism.

Sometimes I feel like they are trying to push Taliban anti women type society through the back door. Women are not allowed to have their own spaces, representatives, rape centres or speak up for women's right.

I say this as someone that is not anti trans. If someone feels they want to change into a woman I have no problem calling them whatever they choose. I do however have a problem with anyone that want to erase the word woman or mother in maternity services, try to take over women's spaces and think they could possibly understand what it is like being a woman who has periods or sexually attacked or whatever.

I'm very much hoping that we get canvassed at the next election. I must prepare what I want to say.

The Greens have taken over our council so are probably hoping to get another MP. That would be an enormous upset. It's currently one of the safest Labour seats in the country. Six months ago I'd have said it would never happen but then they won the majority of seats on the council and got their candidate elected as Mayor, from a position where it had been Labour, Labour, Labour and almost no opposition for decades. Maybe they'll have made some huge cock up at the council before then.

Before one recent election I said to the Green canvasser that I couldn't vote for them because they don't follow the scientific evidence. He looked stunned and sneery and obviously thought I was a climate change denier or anti-vaxxer, but I got in first and said they were not following the science on gender ideology and that undermined their position on everything else as far as I'm concerned. You can't pick and choose whether to follow the science. He did start attempting to say that they were following the science there, but that doesn't wash with me. I need to get something more cogent together for next time.

Where I am, the Greens did less well than expected and we have a new Labour Council leader. Our Labour MP will have to fight hard against the Greens at the next election.

I'm probably demonstrating my ignorance but do Scottish morning rolls (the bready type) differ from the miscellaneous other bread rolls in the UK? 8s the recipe different? Or the method of making them? They sell them in my local Tesco. They're indistinguishable from bread rolls except for the name on the label, but perhaps Tesco's aren't authentic.

I agree. A proper Scottish morning roll is a true culinary delight - it's like buying a prepackaged multipack croissant from Sainsbury's and comparing them to a freshly baked croissant from the boulangerie.

Will I be chucked out of Scotland when I admit that in the 20+ years I have lived here I have never had a morning roll? As someone who has grown up with proper Kipf the crusts just look all wrong to me (even when they haven't been torched to a crisp).
