Jo R’rith’s comments on trans anxiety, public spaces and current guidance

This just up on socials from Jo:

"Regular viewers to "The Jo R'rith Show" will know I suffer a great deal from anxiety attacks, and PTSD from events that began in 2015. Viewers are probably also familiar with my status as a trans woman in Britain, a country that in that time has become increasingly transphobic and bigoted.

Y'all may also be familiar with my costuming/cosplaying/fancy dress or whatever you want to call it, particularly my Uruk-Hai Orc costume. But what you may not realise is that they all intersect - I have anxiety attacks because I am a trans woman in a country that is abusive towards trans people and is trying to segregate us from the rest of the population. I travel to and from events where I wear my costumes, risking transphobic abuse and hatred for being trans. Only when Im in my costume do I get any respite from the fear and anxiety, basically because I'm unrecognisable beneath said costume, and because no one feels confident enough to have a go at the intimidating Uruk-Hai General wearing armour standing before them.

But my anxiety is strong, sometimes overpowering, and that's before the new EHRC guidance on how to be a bigoted cockwomble towards trans people, is included. You see I, like a great many trans people; know my rights and the law. I know that I haven't been banned from female toilets or changing spaces, but I also know that you, Joe Public, don't know that; because you've been fed a shit tonne of lies by the Press, and by TERFs telling you different, and Im sure that, if they find this post; some TERF cockwomble will erroneously claim that it is against the law, but they're lying So that means every time I use a public space, say the female toilets at a services or the like, then I run the risk of encountering someone who thinks I shouldnt be there, and so anxiety, panic and my PTSD."

Was this thread deleted for a while or was I having a moment?

Don't worry. Collective hallucinations.

Are orcs a type of troll?

Corrupted elves I always thought - although apparently that's not clear cut and Tolkien was never completely clear on it.

Agree Scooby Doo pronunciation was absolutely genius.

BackToLurk · 17/08/2026 20:17

Like if Scooby Doo was saying Lilith.

😂

Wait...I can literally hear it, this is the funniest thing I've read this week!

V unlikely. The meat would be slimy/rank/sinewy/malodorous and the skin would be leathery/rank/tough and about 10 inches thick. Appreciate that I haven't considered the entire Orc here but the various appendages and extremities don't bear thinking about.
Amirite?

😂😂

Surely someone must have some Orc recipes you might enjoy? This is mumsnet after all.

However you dress it up, there's nothing remotely inviting about eating an Orc.
So no thanks I'll pass.

Maybe a plate of orc d'oeuvres.

Yup. And here he is doing just that. Not sure I’d want to see either incarnation anywhere near me while I was in a state of undress.

And am I the only one who thinks the OP is Jo R’r? He doesn’t have many instagram likes so not sure his ‘show’ - assuming that’s not of euphemism for life - has many viewers.

Edited for typos.

Shame that person doesn't feel comfortable enough in their own skin to be themselves. I can't imagine having to disguise oneself in order to leave the house. Shame they have to take the characters to such an extreme - what's wrong with a bit of lippy and a new handbag?

Igneococcus · 19/08/2026 14:58

Orcchops? To obvious a pun?

P'orc scratchings do you?

Yeah, I mean I dunno how any actual orcs feel but I’m glad for him that he has a hobby that gets him out and about and seems very creative

I just don’t want to meet him in the ladies loos

FlirtsWithRhinos · 19/08/2026 13:48

(Also, if orc guy exists, I don't have any issue at all with his Orc joy. It's just the sexism of his appropriating women's existence as a metaphor for his personality and the arrogance of believing this gives him any moral right whatsoever to access women's resources or have others accept his sexist self identity as a woman as more meaningful than our own knowledge that he is not.)

MrsOvertonsWindow · 19/08/2026 13:37

If they self identify as one surely Arabella? 😅

Also worth remembering that the limited range of posting styles, repetition of phrases, identical insults thrown at women suggest that there are just 6 angry men in a basement somewhere 😆

💯

I actually hope they are the same person, because if TRA discourse has collapsed to the point different people sound so incredibly similar they really have devolved into pure group think.

The women on FWR may have some very fundamental convictions in common but as a rule we can express them in our own words. Because we think about the fundamentals then build the argument, rather than treat it like some sort of faith ritual.

Well done to MNHQ for all their efforts in tackling so many bad faith trolls in recent weeks.
It must be so time consuming but then these posters aren't the brightest. This OP on another thread posted a lengthy rambling comment forgetting that one of his mates had posted this much earlier on in the thread. 1/10 for effort.

But they do offer posters many opportunities for entertainment (and recipes) as well as generating incredibly articulate and thoughtful posts about women's rights. And of course Scooby Doo posts 😂

BoreOfWhabylon · 19/08/2026 12:34

I'm informed by MNHQ that the OP won't be returning Wink
They're leaving the thread up because it would be criminal to lose posts like the Scooby Doo one Grin

Agree!

And another @Boiledbeetle masterpiece. TOAO! *

He lost me at ‘Y’all’.
Ffs, man, you’re British, don’t use contrived and hokey Americanisms. I was half expecting a ‘folks’ but may have missed it due to my eyes rolling.
