JKR offers to fund any nurse or female patient legal fees

JKR, in the wake of health authorities failing to implement the single sex space laws, has offered to fund the legal case of any female nurse or patient who wants to sue their health authority.

I love that woman!

This concentration on toilets is TRA framing, partly used because it's easy to call women unkind, or whatever, for just letting a "vulnerable" TiM share facilities briefly. Important not to let that stay as the focus.

Allowing men to use women's toilets is the gateway to men accessing women's changing rooms, rape crisis centres, prisons... It's the other way round from the Denton's playbook approach whereby if you can get males into female prisons all the other protected spaces for women will fall away.

What, like your intelligently crafted "deranged billionaire" and "GC ideological captives"?

Ahh

The NHS should really know better - it will cost them dearly as it has already.
It is not just about toilets!! it is about all single sex provision.

Why are TW unsafe in mens loos anyway? Haven't heard of TW being hassled? Unless anyone knows? Maybe it's as my colleague says 'they could be ridiculed'
As for calling JKR deranged, perhaps should sue!

Edited to say I'm not sure the use of howse needed correction.

In other words she wants to use her money to sue trans people or anyone supportive of trans people.

Oh dear, you really have lost touch with reality haven’t you sir?

She is wonderful. Deluded TRAs calling her deranged is just down to wishful thinking. Unfortunately for them, she’s as far from deranged as you can get.

dudsville · 11/08/2026 10:20

I'm so greatful to her that she's willing to use her wealth in this way. I hate that women's rights have always had to be fought for, never just assumed, how can they be up for debate? So I hate that this needs to be the case, but I'm glad there is someone like her who can step into the breach. I went to a women's health clinic a few years back, and had inappropriate treatment by a man who didn't identify as such. I was in a vulnerable position, literraly, and was too scared to speak up. it led to an A&E visit afterward. JK has the back of those who aren't afraid to speak up, that's a powerful and brave partnership.

JKR can put her money where she wants which is great. This is very helpful.

However let us remember even without her eventually the trans stuff would have been defeated.

JKR peaked around 2019 because she thought something was dodgy in the increasingly powerful concept of gender theory. She read what other women were already saying on the matter and realised they were right.

That existing discussion was created by thousands of women including many on Mumsnet in articles. books etc. JKR herself always says this. She is part of a movement which pre-existed her and was already fighting back. Without JKR it would take longer but sooner or later we would start tearing this nonsense down.

Yet denial of the existence of biology is incredibly dumb, it was always going to collapse eventually. A key part is playing out right now. The trans activists have always had a number of flaws, but one of the biggest is that they can only win as long as they focus on oppressing women. If they do anything to inconvenience or upset men they run into serious resistance which they can't handle.

Hence the growing collapse of their attempt to take over women's sport. It has already happened at the Olympic level, but it is falling apart everywhere. Because telling other men they are not stronger than women as soon as they put a dress on or say they are trans is going to upset them. They treat as a joke for a while but sooner or later they are going do something especially if a lot of women point out how stupid it is.

This and, I think, millions of people watching a couple of men punching women in the face and getting gold medals for it. The general population couldn't pretend it wasn't an issue any more.

I commend JKR for all the work she has done, the absolutely batshittery, threats and violence she has had to endure and for putting her money where her mouth is. She has been explicitly clear about what issues she has and kept going. That is why she couldn't be cancelled, unlike other celebs who say they are "kind" but don't demonstrate it.

I approve of NHS bodies obeying the law. Two of them ( Fife and Durham and Darlington) have already spent/wasted literally hundreds of thousands of pounds defying the law. Trans identified men- who appear to be the members of the "trans community" shouting loudest, will be a tiny tiny proportion of their staff. They can set aside one unisex loo.

Absolutely agree...

but to save even more money they can simply tell them to use the loos that already exist - the male ones...

we know from years of discussion, from the studies done, from the evidence gathered that there is no evidence of risk to a man pretending to be a woman ('trans woman'), in a male loo / space... whereas there is risk to women having men in their space.

we also have very clear signs that for the vast majority of those shouting about it, it is performative anger designed to get their way - it is based on no substance, and the argument is really about validation as a 'woman' or wanting access to women when they are vulnerable

so, no good reasons being shared - so they can crack on using the facilities that already exist and save even more money!

You approve of taking money from an institution which can't pay for sexually abused kids to have psychiatric counselling?

Which practices corridor care because there's no cash to pay for extra staff?

Which can't implement this guidance because it's already at breaking point regarding number of staffed beds? Right before the winter bugs hit?

Jesus. Wards are heavily supervised and all have male staff. The moment you can leave your bed and walk they start the process of discharging you. And Intensive Care has so few beds it cannot possibly follow this - one more time - guidance.

A billionaire using her cash like this - instead of, say, helping CAMHS save those raped kids - is obscene.

The legal consequences primarily concern how the venue provides and manages its services, rather than giving police a power to arrest someone simply for using a particular toilet.

You seem lost/confused. This whole thread and the funding is about suing the providers, not arresting the men.

(Somewhat off-topic, following the derail - A man in a female space has to leave - if the venue doesn't tell him to, they're liable. If he doesn't leave then they're responsible. They can get police enforcement by telling him to leave the premises, and if he refuses, they can involve the police for trespass. Once they've gone that far, if necessary, the legal culpability has shifted to the man, otherwise it would remain on them for failing to enforce/report.)

Edited

The police won't get involved for trespass, but they could if a public order offence were committed, which might sometimes be the case. I don't know where the threshold is for such offences.

Igmum · 11/08/2026 09:33

I ❤️ JKR and agree @Imdunfer I don’t think she wants to fund a single case. It’s getting the message across to every single NHS Trust that they need to obey the law. It’s unacceptable that women are being raped in the name of DEI, that nurses are forced to strip in front of men in order to work and that the institutional response to questions is to bully, harass and intimidate any woman raising objections. Frankly all trusts should have already decided to obey the law but for those who have decided it’s optional because it’s hard for an individual middle aged nurse to take on the might of the NHS here’s a stick. In the old days this is what decent unions would do when their members were threatened or put at risk.

Mmmnotsure · 11/08/2026 09:29

Who needs people like M J Murphy to eludicate? TRA posters are doing the work themselves here in the constant highlighting of their favoured talking points, which are so far from actual arguments they could be called transarguments.

It's getting easier to spot. When the cardinal questions are ignored, every time we are told that we (or JKR, ofc) should sort out this or that other issue rather than the one that concerns us, I don't even glance over to see the 🐿any more. Which saves effort.

Operating mixed sex changing rooms for their female staff is obscene.

And it would not cost much to put right.

They could sort it in a week there are so few trans people affected. One small alternative room to change in is all that is needed. Leave female staff to change and toilet in privacy.

Kirschcherries · 11/08/2026 09:02

@KindViper Asking a trans people to use a third toilet would out them as trans and breach their human rights,

Not if all the wonderful trans allies show their support and use the gender neutral toilets. I am surprised all the lovely trans allies haven’t started a campaign to stand up and support transpeople by using GN facilities.

FFS. I'm really not sure what to advise my clients in respect of civil law from now on, as it's apparently not relevant.

Back to law school for me! 😫🤣

I mean, I imagine the business law community would be surprised … but apparently it is not ‘law’ unless a criminal case can be shown. I reckon that all these business law books floating around need to be changed.

Let me clarify: she’s a wonderful, warm-hearted, smart, principled and generous woman whom I would be proud to know.

Let's also be clear that in making the invitation for women to sue their NHS, she is not intending anyone to sue the NHS.

Her desired outcome is to make the NHS realise that they should implement the guidelines.

She doesn't actually want to fund a single case.

It’s often said that people are “radicalised by Mumsnet” on these issues.

Much of the heavy lifting in this is of course done by posters such as @TransParentlyAnnoyed and @KindViper , with their disregard and often contempt for women’s desire for the privacy, dignity and safety afforded by single sex spaces.

(I can’t remember which poster - I don’t think one of the two I mentioned - started using “sex realist” as a derogatory term, but it was particularly funny.)

They all have that same slightly arch, 'calm down dear', 'hmmmm?' posting style, that's what interests me (in the absence of anything actually interesting in their arguments).

It's standard mansplaining with extra misogyny, I think. Extra egregious given the absolute mince they're posting.

Is there a school?

IF, the NHS is following the law as you claim, then they’ve nothing to worry about.
Being tested in Court would only prove your point wouldn’t it?

You understand that I’m sure.

Darlington tried that. Cost them as shedload of money.
