It’s so annoying that it’s always this way with these people: we ask questions about safety for women and girls and they respond with how this upsets the feelings of trans identifying men 🙄

It shows how the needs and concerns of women and girls are nowhere on their minds and they don’t rate them as important compared to what men want.

As his recent games have included foisting Trump on the US and brexit on the UK, I really doubt the discovery of a trans basketball player of any nation would gain even a flicker of attention from him.

I have absolutely no idea whether BG is female or not, but I wouldn't try to second guess Putin on anything. I think that he actually plays a much more subtle game than many people in the West realise. If he has useful info he stores it and then uses it when it is most favourable to him.

I don’t think it would have come out via prisoners themselves, but via staff. I was reading a biography of a woman who committed money laundering in the US and she described how humiliated she was in the showers when staff sprayed them down with disinfectant soap. This was in a US prison. I would bet my house on Russian prisons being worse re: prisoner welfare, personal privacy, and general treatment.

I also think it is potentially flawed to make that decision based on the expectation that either the person was held in the general population where showers were completely open and that there was always someone in the shower at the same time or that the women in that prison would even know who the fuck Griner was and would talk about it in the public arena. It would require those women to feel they had any voice to be heard or even wanted to publicly discuss being in prison in the first place.

Well, if something is internal (like testes which haven’t dropped normally to outside the body) you wouldn’t see them in the shower. This condition happens in males who don’t develop as normal for their sex. Doesn’t make them female, as that is a discrete sex as opposed to a male whose bits didn’t develop properly. Female is not a flawed male.

That’s why they do the swab test. Visual can’t do the job. I suppose likewise they don’t do drug doping tests from a mere visual inspection of the person.
