Bash Back (again). How are they not proscribed as terrorists?

Bash Back just posted this picture and comment to Dr Mary-Ann Stephenson in response to her comment about EHRC.

She talked about everyone's rights being respected and the law.

BB said:

'Hey Mary, quick question: What happened to your London office?'

They are terrorists.

I worry that someone will get hurt before the authorities see fit to take any action.

That's what usually happens when women are under threat.

The fact that their X feed names individual women, including MPs people to 'take action ' against is so worrying.

Surely it's incitement to violence. How can it not be? Even if they're not explicitly inciting violence against named individuals (I don't know whether they are or not), the whole tone seems so aggressive.

Look at how much push-back there has been against the proscription of Palestine Action who have a very similar training manual and promotion of hammer use (they have a section on how to purchase your hammer with cash so it can't be traced). I would expect there's a lot of crossover in membership too.

Palestine Action have caused millions of pounds in damage to property, including attacks on our military assets, they also were involved in an attack where a police officer had her spine fractured with a sledgehammer. And yet they still have masses of support and loads of gullible idiots willing to get themselves arrested for supporting them.

I don't think the govt would be able to proscribe Bash Back for far lesser attacks, however threatening.

There's loads of support of PA on BBs X feed, which will suprise noone.

I saw this comment on another forum discussing Ann Widdecombe's murder and the suspect. I don't use Bluesky or Twitter so have no idea if the comment is true. Does anybody know if accounts did go missing?

Who knows, but I really hope that BB are being closely monitored.

If people support the cause they will usually turn a blind eye. The suffragettes are regarded as heroic despite attempting terror attacks akin to the Manchester Arena bombing.

Chersfrozenface · 08/08/2026 09:03

I said earlier that one would hope that Bash Back were being watched, under the Left-Wing, Anarchist and Single-Issue Terrorism (LASIT) category.

More broadly, one would hope that counter terrorism police are paying attention to that category. But are they?

Very interesting story on the BBC News website.

An attack Nigel Farage says was made on his home in April 2025 is now being reinvestigated by counter terrorism police investigating the killing of Ann Widdecombe.

Interesting for two reasons.

One, the link with Ann Widdecombe's murder.

Two, did the police close the Farage case because he is a right-wing figure? (I can't stand Farage personally but half-arsing an investigation into an attack on someone because of their political views is beyond the pale.)

Widdecombe police reopen investigation into incident at Farage's home, BBC understands

Counter-terror police investigating the ex-MP's death say they are looking into an "attempted burglary" last year.

The suffragettes were not regarded as heroic by the police at the time, they were imprisoned and tortured - with the approval of a lot of society, at the time.

I think the key issue is one of proportionality : is the cause significant enough, are the harms caused against the protesting group provable from historical evidence and significant, and have non-violent efforts been attempted before turning to violence - that's just my own off-the-top-of-my-head test of proportionality of political violence.

My own elders took part, reluctantly but bravely, in a violent rebellion against the centuries-long occupation of my country - centuries of oppression, murder, starvation, ethnic cleansing, religious discrimination, grinding poverty, cultural eradication - the list goes on and on. Millions of people had suffered and died. Peaceful and parliamentary resistance had been ignored. The status quo was unsupportable.

The suffragette cause was that one-half of humanity was excluded from full citizenship and the protection of the law, and centuries of peaceful and parliamentary methods had been ignored. The status quo was unsupportable.

Turning now to the transgender movement - where is the denial of civil rights? where are the decades, centuries of brutal oppression? where is the evidence of decades, centuries of peaceful protest which has been ignored? What is unsupportable about the status quo where transpeople have exactly the same rights as everybody else?

How can the likes of BashBack claim that their violence has the justification of proportionality?

Lins77 · 08/08/2026 11:04

They will argue it, though. In their minds they are the most oppressed people who ever lived, regardless of any evidence to the contrary.

Oh they will argue it, they will🙄
That's why I channelled my inner Thomas Aquinas and called BS on their attempted 'justification' for violenceSmile

MyDpsanarse · 08/08/2026 12:36

The problem is that too many offical bodies seem to have no difficulty handling any act of dissorder unless it's trans related. Over and over they get away with threats and vandelism while no one intervenes. It makes you wonder why that would be.

Igmum · 13/09/2026 16:22

Thanks Bridget and well done to the London Assembly (why am I not surprised that Sadiq Khan is MIA?). Now, Metropolitan Police, where are you 🔎?

alcovecupboards · 13/09/2026 16:25

It was paint... I hasten to add that we have our rights because brave women threatened - and did - much worse.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 13/09/2026 16:32

Well that's a first isn't it? A trans extremist organisation being held to the same standards as everyone else.
Progress .

The thing is, they already have all the same rights as the rest of us, don’t they? So it’s not really the same thing as what the suffragettes did.

"Bash Back" have posted a long waffle reply on Instagram that runs to six pages. Sorry I have to head but do look it up.

I think we need the Ann Widdicombe trial brought forward (if it is possible for the lawyers).

There's rumours that there is a link in their post which they are denying. But that's just rumours.

If you can expedite riot trials, you can and should expedite trials of murders of politicians.

It doesn't sound like it will be a long trial as there's video evidence, she has CCTV plus the car. Then the press will be free to report.

It's set for June 2027 but I can't see how many weeks they've earmarked.

They already have the same rights as everybody else, they're not actually campaigning for anything, their just threatening people who they think are taking away the special rights they think their entitled too. They're committing wanton acts of violence and all under the cloak of anonymity.
Not the same, not the same at all.
