6 London councils to ignore EHRC guidance

What absolute tripe. And I hate that every time this new ECHR guidance is reported (for example yesterday on the radio) they then do a quote from some trans rights charity.

Why not do a vox pop from some ordinary women? "Yeah, relieved to hear common sense returning", "i thought this was the whole point of the Ladies' changing room, it's for us ladies" etc

In a joint letter, they said: “Trans women are women, trans men are men, and non-binary identities are fundamentally valid.” They described the code as “harmful to the rights of trans people” and said: “We won’t put our staff in the impossible position of policing entry to public spaces.”

Hackney is understood to have already been served with a formal legal challenge over its alleged failure to provide female-only services, in what appears to be the first move against a public authority since the code came into force.

Whatever it is, it’s nasty, pathetic and immature. It’s immature because these local politicians should confine themselves to sorting out local services and not be showing off as if they’re running for office in the student union.

Here is how the six councils announced their position. It is a nauseating and confused display which amongst other things promises to protect the rights of ‘gender non-conforming’ people. But I don’t think they are referring to women who reject traditional gender norms, because they don’t seem to count.
