Covent Garden - why don't I trust the reporting ?

I can totally see the reason for scepticism about the reporting, but I'd also wait for more details to come out and to be sure of the facts before posting online about this and similar incidents.

As others have pointed out, the initial speculation was because of the many examples of dishonest reporting on similar subjects. Then, we've seen a few posters calling others bigots and scare-mongers, pretending that it doesn't matter, as only a small number of men LARP as women.

In prison, more than half of those LARPERS are incarcerated for sexual and violent crimes against children and women, compared to about 18% of the general prison population.

A small, but significant number of men, recorded as women, skew the statistics and have resulted in scarce resources being diverted to the wrong places.

This week, chroniclelive (Newcastle local paper) has reported that 4 women forced their way into the house of another woman and beat and kicked her. One of the defendants photographed is very evidently a man.

If you cannot see how that is a distortion of the truth and far from honest, open reporting, then I'm unable to help.

Another here whose first thought was to doubt the veracity of the reports. And that's the point of the thread, @Velvera ; not what the actual sex of the assailant is, but that the hysterically partisan and dishonest reporting of the BBC over the last 15 years have left us unable to trust that it won't prioritise its proselytising editorial stance over the truth.

Daily Mail has extensive coverage.

According to a fellow resident from St. Mungo's, she is a Romanian woman with a crack problem, who is quite well known locally to the area.

Hopefully she gets a LOT of prison time.

See this media release from Greater Manchester Police about Naomi, actually Nathan, O'Brien.
Referred to as a woman, using the pronoun "she". No mention of the fact that the offender is male.

The BBC certainly do. See this story about "Heather" Herbert, a trans identifying male, being arrested and charged on 16th July over his vile SM message about Ann Widdecombe's murder. "She" and "her" everywhere.

The police describe a trans identifying man as a woman and only use the pronoun "she" in communications, then the BBC and most other media follow their lead.

Upthread (at 18.45) I posted links to the Scarlett Blake murder where a trans identifying man was called a woman by the police, the media, the judiciary in court until public scrutiny finally resulted in accurate language being used - Scarlet was a man who murdered another man aas well as committing other terrible crimes.

Having said that. it's important to recognise that it's so often your daughter and other police officers who directly face the consequences of the loss of confidence from the public. It was officers who confronted this woman and who confront other dangerous criminals. They are so badly served by senior officers who pander to political extremists of all kinds, focussing only on their niche political interests while ignoring the impact on society and their own officers.

The reason that suspicions are now immediately raised is because there have been numerous occasions over the years when a crime committed by a male person has been reported as being having committed by a woman. This occurs not just in national news reporting, but has also been a long standing feature of local reporting too. It does make ppeople question reports when a crime of the sort not typical of women is reported as having been.
Obviously women can respond or react with violence too.....though in this instance none of the men were seriously injured at all, and two have already been released from hospital. Should this have been a man, i suspect the injuries might well have been far more serious.
