Dismissing a person's identity as a 'performance' is just a cheap way to avoid treating them with basic human dignity. Transitioning isn't playing a role; nobody faces social stigma, navigates complex medical systems, and rebuilds their entire life just to 'put on an act.' Transitioning isn't playing a role for an audience-it's living authentically. Accusing trans women of 'acting' just reveals how
desperate you are to invalidate their lives.

What are you on about? Transwomen are men, they are not women. There is nothing offensive or diminishing or any other of the things you disingenuously claim about calling a man a man. Of course men who claim to be women are simply doing a performance of stereotypical gestures and mannerisms that they think pertain to women. Being a woman is a biological fact, it's not something anybody - even a man - can identify as.

All this histrionic, emotional manipulation won't get you anywhere. You won't silence us with this nonsense.

Yes - mumsnet is the only place on the internet I’ve come across where this bizarre unhealthy obsession is allowed to breed completely unfettered, and seems to be actively encouraged and go unchallenged by any moderator. I guess it brings traffic and ads revenue so whatchagonnado.

Thinking crime statistics should be accurate?

That would seem a very mainstream position, but you appear to think otherwise.

Please do explain.

This.

This is a vile thread.

I've had a post hidden upthread for providing evidence of 39 male criminals (rapists, murderers, paedophiles) who have been referred to by police, CPS and Courts as 'she'.

So the answer to my question to StopFolding ("Exactly how many times would anyone need to lie to you before you started double-checking what they said?") must be n>40.

Helpful to know.

Don't underestimate the power of a woman especially if they have schizophrenia or something like that but yes I understand why people are sceptical

and a couple of examples is not, and never will be, regarded as “numerous examples”

Some of these crimes are so rarely committed by women (rape for example, which in the UK must involve a penis) that just a couple of examples make a huge impact on data.

The thing you have to understand is that we are taking about tiny numbers.

I'm going to assume that you are just having difficulty understanding the point of the thread, so `I will attempt an explanation.

The point is not that trans people are always committing violent crimes.

The point is that women (regardless of their identity) very rarely commit violent crimes, and there has been a policy of misreporting some men's crimes as women's crimes.

This means that when one of these very rare crimes occurs we wonder whether the reporting is accurate.

This is all important because, when numbers are small, incorrect reporting has a disproportionate impact on data.

Do you understand now or do you need further explanation?

SodThisHeadache · 05/08/2026 19:16

Here's a list of men referred to by the police courts, even the CPS with female pronouns:

My first thought was surprise that it was a woman, but then on reading the weapon was scissors my next thought was that she must be very unwell or something horrendous has happened to her.
Women's criminality is generally very different to men's (as well as being far less).

SerendipityJane · 05/08/2026 19:14

Jane379 · 05/08/2026 19:04

I don't think it is unlikely. She could have slashed at the men rather than stabbing as such.

The reporting (and we already know we are sceptical) uses the word "stabbing".

I wasn't really wanting to speculate here on the mechanics of the attack. However if we have doubts about the reporting of the offenders sex, then we (or at least I) would be justified in having doubts elsewhere.

Which underscores the damage done in these organsations.

This never happens. Do you have an example? You have provided me with an example, I now demand numerous examples. You have now provided numerous examples. I will criticise you because you have provided numerous examples.

Shortshriftandlethal · 05/08/2026 19:10

She was apparently homeless and was seen regularly around the area by various stall and shop keepers. I immediately felt the same as others, and was a bit suspicious, but then I thought that maybe she had been traumatised by abuse by homeless, and other, men on the street, and this was her response.
I always feel that homeless women are particularly vulnerable.

@Stopfolding

Here is Katie Birtles, imprisoned for 5 years for sexual offences - contacting and aiming to meet a 14 year old, in a police sting by Grantham police, who omitted to mention that Katie is a man:

It does seem logistically unlikely. ‘She’ would have to stab and remove the scissors to go onto the next person - that would take a lot of strength - I await further info but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a bloke in a frock.
edited as autocorrect originally said blonde in a frock

RunningforSam · 05/08/2026 19:03

Some key points:

  • fortunately, none of the injuries were serious
  • sadly, the perpetrator seems to be someone who is known in the area for needing, and failing to access, mental health treatment
  • male crimes continue to be misreported as female crimes, leading to suspicion and speculation when crimes rarely committed by females are reported as being carried out by females
  • TRAs continue to misunderstand or misrepresented the views of people who recognise sex matters in some contexts.
YesterdaysFuture · 05/08/2026 19:03

For the people who are outraged over people's suspicions. Here's an interesting thought.

The authorities and media have done everything possible to be inclusive of trans people, in particular reporting of crimes by the perpetrator's preferred gender and name. The backlash (as seen in this thread) is a result of the authorites and media "trying to do the right thing".

You could argue that authorities and media response to transphobia has actually resulted in creating more.

Personally I fail to understand why TRAs know that male criminals are abusing the self-ID system and why they refuse to call it out.
