failing “trans kids” by safeguarding them from making lifelong catastrophic irreversible changes to their undeveloped bodies? Jesus wept.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 05/08/2026 11:13

She sounds like a great advocate for children's safety and women's rights. Kudos to her for speaking out about the abuse of children in the name of "trans rights" in such a dodgy local authority where pandering to trans extremism seems baked in to local politics.

Well done that woman for trying her very best. Brighton Council is so far down the rabbit hole, I genuinely can't see a pathway out, sadly. How can you gather critical mass in a place where so many are not just captured but actually zealous about gender nonsense?

I wonder if this resignation and subsequent by election will grab any attention? I assume she chose today because of the guidance coming into force.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/08/2026 11:31

Brave woman. Forcing these people to toe the line in court is the only way.

donkey86 · 05/08/2026 12:04

The local newspaper headline is unfortunate - it seems to imply she’s taken the opposite stance.

I actually knew her a bit a few years ago. I still have her number but I’m not sure she’d remember me. I’m tempted to send a message to thank her for her principled stance.

The news hasn’t broken on local Facebook groups yet. I feel for her when it does - she’ll be called all kinds of names, I’m sure.

That is such an intelligent, impressive and genuinely caring letter. Local government really can't afford to lose councillors of this calibre.

Sadly, Brighton appears to have an endless supply of grinning eager idiots happy to be performative and oh-so-woke.

I agree with you though @NotAtMyAge

Especially as they have so many local politicians who not only believe and promote lies but who actively undermine safeguarding children.

Agree - and was wondering whether to post it in full as an OP for a a stand alone thread it is that good.

But also so depressing.

Excellent letter, really impressive. What a loss to the council.

donkey86 - go with your instinct, and send that messageSmile

Great letter, very well written

Whatchamacallitt · Today 02:55

I'm glad there's someone in Brighton trying to protect vulnerable trans-identified children as well as the rights of women and girls.
