I was surprised as I was introduced to people, as to what an influential group it was. Apart from his fetish he was a very lovely friend, and I was extremely sad when I heard a few years later that he had killed himself; he'd moved away to live in another town and rather lost touch with us, and I felt guiltily that i wished we had made more of an effort to make him feel he was still a friend in spite of us being a bit preoccupied with small children.
