I find disaronno does the job re marzipanish liqueur, also in hot chocolate.

@ErrolTheDragon I also have to agree with you. My DH (the Walrus) does cook celery and put it in with the roast veg and I can't taste it. I assume it enhances the meal, but everything he makes is bloody delicious, with extra deliciousness because I don't have to lift a finger - I have no idea how our new convection hob works.

But the rest of you - wrong.

Fortunately I am a sensible lion who is happy to be friends with people who enjoy foodstuffs I don't, so it won't affect my love for you all.

Umm just dropping this here, Neideregger make a marzipan liqueur, (which is also amazing in hot chocolate) not sure if you can get in the UK Lűbeck is a beautiful city to visit, but I didn’t think the Neideregger cafe was that amazing sadly, although the window displays of what you can make out of marzipan were impressive.

Celery is lovely! Bit of good cheese, some celery, grapes and some crackers - perfect.

Raw celery is vile, but it’s an essential component of soffrito/mirepoix. As with onions and garlic, cooking transforms from offensive to delicious.

I'm with you on root beer and celery, but i do love a bit of marzipan. My dad always used to over buy for icing the Xmas cake, and divide the remainder for his marzipan loving daughters. We actually are him weigh all 3 balls of the good stuff to make sure he was being fair.

Myrtle you and I are clearly twins separated at birth. I will be grilling my celery loving so call mother later so I can reconnect with my real family.

Frankly marzipan, celery and root beer are the work of the devil. Do not get me started on Dr Pepper. It is genuinely evil.

I think either Whittards or Hotel Chocolate do marzipan hot chocolate. Possibly both of them do.

If you have a Velvitiser (a cheap equivalent or a pan and a whisk) you can turn anything that melts into 'hot chocolate'. I got bored with a box of Guerlain praline shellfish things and used a few to make hot chocolate. Been meaning to do the same with maltezers.
