No details yet. He says he will post about it at length tomorrow and it will be worth the wait. So this is just a placemarker for the moment.

That’s beyond shocking.

Who needs to be made aware of this so that it stops? His MP? A high ranking copper?

Surely this can’t just rumble on indefinitely?!

Oooh that's promising

He will have 100 other sock accounts. Just like on X.

Colin Wynter KC is working on having Hayden declared a vexatious litigant, not sure if Watson is included in this. But he asked people to contact him with their experiences and has referred obliquely to the paperwork

Poor Colin was on a temp account the other day on X, haven't checked to see if he got his main back yet. No doubt the TRAs reported him en masse.

MelOfTheRoses · 04/08/2026 16:18

I can only assume, that being an ex policeman, he words his complaints in a manner that fits the system, and computer says yes. 🤷‍♀️

I thought all this banging on doors at 2 am was used for rounding up gangs of drug dealers etc so that they couldn't alert each other.

The (lack of) criminality of social media posts seems to be such a waste of their time, unless there are loads of people being woken for voluntary interview at 2am and being convicted that we don't know about.

I have serious concerns that tax payers money is being used for the police to act as proxy bullies for a disgraced former police constable.

Absolutely.

There’s a clear pattern here that should be investigated for inappropriate use of police powers and public funds.

The fact the copper didn’t even bother to do the smallest soupçon of due diligence on the complainant is disquietingly shoddy as well.

We deserve a better police force than this.

NotInMyyName · 04/08/2026 16:13

This is a kafkaesque story. Surely there must be a way to get this (and other) enraged men to have accountability and stop vexatious and baseless complaints.
Wings Over Scotland's MP or a Minister or someone. Unbelievable waste of public resources and upset.

I agree. It is outrageous.

I recall the words of the Judge at the Harry Miller vs Humberside Police case:

"In this country we have never had a Cheka, a Gestapo or a Stasi. We have never lived in an Orwellian society."

"The judge ruled that Humberside Police acted unlawfully by visiting Miller's workplace over his humorous, gender-critical tweets, stating that police action over political opinions disproportionately interfered with freedom of expression".

I suspect it's because the police only grudgingly sacked him so he's still one of their own. Or as someone else said, he's in the same Masonic Lodge as someone high up.

And because they know he's a bloke and therefore deserves preferential treatment.

I think it might be even nastier than that. They don't give a monkey's about Watson, most involved probably have no idea who he is, or the fact he was ever a copper. He just gives them an excuse to bully and victimise the kinds of people they want to bully and victimise.

Distractable · 04/08/2026 16:10

Is this also a problem of police forces not being properly joined up? But I do worry that police officers don't Google before they make arrests on this sort of charge.

lcakethereforeIam · 04/08/2026 16:10

Battering on his door at 2 in the morning to arrest him over tweets! As he said if it was someone less fortified...

Incidentally while I was reading the Wings article, someone tapped on my door! Nearly wet myself 😃

HermioneWeasley · 04/08/2026 16:10

Absolutely agree @Dumbo12

are the police not accountable to anyone?

Good Lord. An excellent article but poor Wings, having to go through that level of batshittery.

Why do the police keep taking Watson’s side?

Crikey, auto-modded! I wonder why. ETA: but rapidly cleared. Phew.

The run up sounds really worrying. If this had happened to someone less tough, savvy, well-connected and experienced than Wings it could have had a terrible effect. Lengthy quote follows:

Watson has made numerous ludicrous, vexatious complaints to various police forces about me – a particularly memorable one being when he reported me last September for “perverting the course of justice” because I’d tweeted a link to a fundraiser for someone being persecuted by another transactivist – as well as trying to extort tens of thousands of pounds from me with threats.
Yesterday, though, he finally found some police officers gullible enough to listen.

The first I heard of it was in mid-April this year, when I was away catsitting and got a phonecall one morning from a woman claiming to be an officer of “Bath Police”, which immediately made me suspicious because the local force is called Avon & Somerset. The woman explained that she was investigating a complaint of harassment against me and wanted me to come in for a voluntary interview, although she said that if I declined I’d be arrested.
I said I’d need to verify who she was first, so asked her to send details by email or text so I could be sure she was the police and arrange things with my solicitor. She agreed, but then hours turned into days turned into weeks and I heard nothing, so I assumed it had been some sort of twisted “prank” by Watson or one of his associates like “Sophia” Brooks or “Freda” Wallace, who notoriously love to troll gender-critical people.
Then in the middle of last month I got another phonecall from an unfamiliar number, this time at 1.30am. It was someone else claiming to be a police officer – this time a male – demanding that I submit to being arrested and hauled off to Keynsham Police Centre about 10 miles away, right there and then, in the middle of the night. He was most insistent that it couldn’t wait for a less absurd time.
Once again I said I’d have to verify his identity first, and a short while later sent me an email. I was still in the process of checking it when people started ringing and battering on my door (I didn’t know who, you can’t see who’s at the front door from inside my house), at what was by now 2.15am.
Fortunately a couple of fellow Watson targets were still up at this unsociable hour, some of whom were lawyers and former police officers, and by happy chance so was my crime-fighting associate Roddy Dunlop KC, as he happened to be several time-zones away that week, where it was still a civilised hour.
Fortified by wise counsel from such experts, I ignored the hammering on the door until it went away, and immediately contacted the Free Speech Union (pretty much the last bastion of civil liberties in the UK – please join up if you can, you never know when you might need them), who by later that day had set me up with a solicitor, Daniel Berke, with extensive experience of dealing with malicious transactivists.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/08/2026 15:57

Yes, Daniel sounds great!

SodThisHeadache · 04/08/2026 15:56

Crikey!

This was quite delicious:

" She [police officer after Wings had told her the full story of Watson's exploits] visibly winced when near the end I noted that Watson had made at least 300 police complaints and the only one that had resulted in anyone being taken in for questioning before me was the one he made against Graham Linehan – the outcome of which, just last month, was the Metropolitan Police issuing Graham a grovelling apology accompanied by a cheque for £25,000"

I like the cut of the solicitor's jib.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/08/2026 15:55

Maybe claiming it was Wings’ sock account?

Tallisker · 04/08/2026 15:55

Is that it?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/08/2026 15:54

As he said, it’s possible they just took Watson’s word as the “victim” that Wings had posted the third one.

murasaki · 04/08/2026 15:53

One of which he hadn't even posted. Due diligence, people....

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 04/08/2026 15:52

So have I. Worrying when the police appear to have the time and resources to investigate tweets that are quite obviously jokes. Are they not paying attention to what's going on in the world at all?
