there's no way they could be imagining that he might incriminate himself into something requiring a 2 o'clock in the morning visit.

to me there's just a disconnect. A proper disconnect. Between saying knock on his door at 2 o'clock in the morning because of these two tweets - and bring him in for questioning to see if we can nail anything else on him.

Not even to arrest him, to persuade him to come in for a “voluntary interview”. They obviously didn’t have grounds to make an arrest at the time.

The police could literally just read Kiwi Farms or MN and get as much evidence as they need. It really is the most pathetic showing of their skills and expertise.

Because they hope that they incriminate themselves into something else, and they do not want a judicial review as then the process becomes THEIR punishment so better to throw someone else under a bus.

People need to throw threats of judicial reviews right back at the rozzers, its the only thing they seem to move on these days.

I'm sure this has probably been discussed elsewhere, but if the evidence they have, and it's the only evidence they have, doesn't meet the level of criminality but they still want to interview you, how does that ever get approved?

I know they want to put you through a process, but it was my understanding that this 'come down the police station otherwise you'll be arrested' interview was in order to gather more evidence.

But if the evidence is tweets, surely that doesn't apply.

I'm probably wasting my thoughts on this, but it fucking annoys me that there's no normal part of the process that stops this from happening.

It only takes one idiot activist (or misogynist bully) to decide to take it further probably knowing perfectly well it won't fly but relishing the "process is the punishment" aspect of it all.

Because the process is the punishment, the police are well aware that there will be no charges, but it means that they can go out in the middle of a quiet night shift and terrify a law abiding tax payer for holding a particular, legal, view
