I once got a phone call from the police at nearly midnight, nearly had a heart attack as I thought something terrible must have happened.

Turns out it was a routine follow up to something mundane and when I asked why they were calling me at this ungodly hour, they replied “Because this is when I’m on shift!”

It had clearly not occurred to him that IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

This is so pathetic. Why is his happening in the UK in 2026?! It’s nonsensical.
Could Wings complain to the police for harassment by them and by the dangerous man.

I was interrupted by the actual police knocking on my door!

Thankfully the police where I live spend their time doing their job properly and were investigating an actual crime and wondered if they could they check my cctv whilst the forensics team did their stuff at the scene of the crime.

For anyone wondering.. I didn't have the actual incident caught on camera, but if the forensic people find anything useful they now have the faces of the only individuals in the area acting rather suspiciously between 1 and 5 am!

Back to the rozzers. My experience of them is that some are complete dick wits and i have no idea how they got through training.

Lack of critical analysis and laziness seems to be the combo for some.

One of the many issues with both PND and PNC for cross-force working is that each force will have their own codes against which to register offences, intelligence etc. As of about three years ago, trying to obtain standardised data at a national level was, err, challenging. So unless individual officers were extremely curious, persistent and had time on their hands, it would be entirely possible for a complete picture not to be obtained.

As for Snowballs, I don’t think I’ve tried them. I saw them in the farm shop a while back but since I’d already spent eleventy billion pounds on a jar of sauce and some fruit juice, I desisted from adding to the bill.
