So what was the plan with the document? You don't make a huge list of organisations unless you plan to DO something with it.

This has absolutely nothing to do with SLAPP lawsuits. Amnesty defamed, slandered and liabled dozens of grassroots womens and gay rights groups and are now being rightly held to account for it, hence they reported themselves to the charity commission and said commission is now investigating them.
Investigations triggered by the sort of behaviour that Amnesty self reported for can lead to the charity being stripped of its charitable status. This statement is all about trying to prevent the charity from being struck off the charitable register.

Damage limitation. I don't believe the organisations libelled are the audience this is intended for. It aimed at doing just enough to mitigate court cases and sanctions from the Charity Commission. There's probably fellow feeling in both Stonewalled courts and the CC that they can use this to handwave it all away.

Yes its lacking an explanation of why their PR/media department issued a press statement doubling down on the article in the 1st couple of days after they published the 2nd report, especially since they now claim not to believe what either report said about womens rights groups.
They can claim that they support women's rights but all evidence shows the opposite to be true

It was AIUK who intervened against FWS in the Supreme Court case.
This is coming across as a trend.

1. Lose a court case vs Gender Critical opponents
2. Do academic(ish) research on this topic in order to publish and malign GCs and specifically whoever you lost to.

Not only research staff at AIUK but also - it seems from another recent thread on this board - at The Open University following this route to 'redemption'.

It's not possible for the apology to be enough because Amnesty International doesn't mean it in the way that it matters. They believe gender critical people are hateful bigots and it's the duty of right thinkers like themselves to share this whenever they have the chance.

Amnesty International believes that they've done nothing wrong and the most they can offer is "is this enough to make you go away?"

The briefing was publicised so that part's a lie - at least two podcasts in which the author proudly sold it. One The Guilt Feminist, which I imagine has a large audience. Taking down the article is not sufficient.

Sounds like Amnesty are more sorry they got pulled up on the article than they are about publishing it in the first place.

Too little, too late. The damage to Amnesty's already shonky reputation cannot be undone
