Fair play to the marketing people at Tim Horton! They have just used house colours for icing and those sugar paste images for each house slapped it on their standard product and lo! Instant mad amounts of free publicity.
Having said that I would buy a fuck ton. Hufflepuff forever!
I was so irritated by all this Harry Potter related trans stuff I looked up how much money Daniel Radcliffe and the other young actors made and still make from it. It is buckets and buckets of cash like 50 million originally for Dan for example. Plus a cut from all merch with his image. And guess how much they have given back because of how upset they are? The amount would seem to be zero.

Meanwhile tbe "hateful"authir has set up a childrens charity, a rape counselling charity, donated to medical chairities, helped with legal funds for vulnerable women and children etc

I agree that the books aren't fantastically well written..though I did love book 4- her world building is incredible and blends the believable and fantastical so well.

Sadly, since Tim Hortons was sold to some faceless American conglomerate they almost universally make not good dough/donuts. But I would probably still buy one!

I took against Tim Hortons. An outlet opened in my English Town and I hoped to try that famous Canadian delicacy whose name completely escapes me. The one with the cheese curds? They don't sell it. This won't make me reconsider, they're just doughnuts ffs! Changing my mind because they're HP themed would be nearly as petty as what made me disregard them in the first place. It would make me as unhinged as the tras kicking off. If the bods in Tim Horton's came out as GC though...

Poutine. Cheesy chips with gravy elevated to become Canada's contribution to world cuisine. I'm not sure that they even serve it in Tim Hortons in Canada.

And in case anyone comes for me saying that I’ve gone down some poutine-purity spiral, DH has discovered that sprinkling cooked and crumbled black pudding over the top is a-maze-ing. Close second is cooked and crumbled haggis (also amazing on Nachos, btw).

But the curds are non-negotiable.

The amount of histrionics and criticism towards JKR is completely out of proportion. Even if you don't agree with her agenda the way she uses her money to support it by a) setting up alternative services and b) funding legal action so principles can be transparently argued in court are the least objectional ways an enormously wealthy person can intervene - with complete respect for democracy and the rule of law.
Many of the people who object to her are still using products from the big corporations that do much more to influence public policy much less openly.

I can see that would work! I have had a poached egg on poutine before to make it into more of a meal and that was also good.

But then, I think you can add a poached egg to most meals because they are lush.

CBC is very left leaning and writes articles about almost anything so I wouldn’t consider this headline news.
In the real world (not on the internet) no one actually cares and Timmies will still have a long line for the drivethru.
I’ve literally never heard a Canadian use the word TERF (I don’t even know what it means). Trans stuff doesn’t come up in Canada nearly as much as it seems to in the UK (based off how many feeds there are on this site about it). It’s literally never mention in day to day living.
The media loves blowing things up from nothing - this is a great example.

I mean, it’s fair enough to assume that a Canadian food chain might serve various well-known Canadian foods, especially if you don’t know anything about the food chain in question except that it’s Canadian.

Timmies started out as kind of a…truckstop sort of place? @MoistVonL might have more of a feel for its origins. But I mean, it was not fancy - coffee and doughnuts and that’s it. And the coffee was verifiably terrible. I remember when they started offering bagels - eyebrows were definitely raised.

A coffee shop specialising in doughnuts. Very popular with shift workers etc to grab a coffee and a sugar hit before or after a shift. They branched out into bran muffins for breakfast - woo hoo! When they started selling actual savoury food like bagels we knew they'd betrayed their roots.

We used to have a standing joke -
"Mom says if you see a policeman... you shouldn't be in food Tim Horton's anyway."

If I wanted a fast food lunch, I'd go to Harvey's or Mr Submarine like a sane person.
