I speak for myself. I'm sensibly GC - and believe my beliefs more accurately represent the majority of people full stop. The radicalisation of Mumsnet's contingent clearly isn't reflective of wider society. You only have to look at how legal losses are being claimed as wins here - when they aren't. It's backfiring badly all to line a few people's pockets.

I've been around the conference venue twice today... and not really much in the way of visible protests about anything yet. I imagine that will start tmorrow.

Indeed. Just shows how they've fallen. The conferences go back to the 1900s and you can see through them the progression of many of the influential labour women.

Again it's a sign of how transactivism trashes so much of what it touches - especially if it's something specifically for women.

Women on here will understand only too well that the fear of violence, bullying and threats are enough to put many women off attending.

Labour once had a reasonable history of promoting the rights of women. Not so much the unions, many of who have for decades been mired in scandals involving the abuse of women - take a look at the recent history of the RCN as an example.

Trying to frame the poor attendance as the fault of women is laughable, but predictable given the nature of so many of your posts on FWR.

why are you protesting about women attending a women’s conference? Are they not allowed to do that without the presence of men (whether they are men in dresses or not)? Who are you - the Taliban?!

I think estimates say that it has attracted just 25% of its usual attendees. So the question is rather - why so many women would rather side with trans people than GC people? And I'm very confident in saying that it's because we've allowed hateful extremists to take over the messaging instead of backing sensible same sex provision where necessary.

You need to get a grip. A handful of people standing outside in silence is not bullying. Genuine question - how on earth do you cope in every day life?

There was never going to be a major demonstration - there doesn't need to be. The unions have all spoken and the overwhelming narrative is not one of a successful conference. And I'm afraid the groups inside aren't helping themselves by claiming it's 'standing room only' next to pictures of a tiny room and empty chairs. This has become a major problem for us - there is no need to lie or be outrageously hateful.

What does appear to be good news is that for all the threats and whining, there appear to be 8? people & a couple of flags trying to silence women. With Steph producing a very self centred leaflet about his alleged "advocacy for women" - the larger demo photographed appears to be about Palestine?

So maybe all the union hype was just hot air - or maybe Labour did suggest that they STFU and leave women alone?
