Don't release violent male offenders, repurpose women's prisons for them instead

Article in the Telegraph.

Instead lets release women from prison instead, and repurpose their prisons to house the men.

It sounds like an excellent idea to me!

Because the minute number of women inmates are overwhelmingly in prison for non-violent offences like not paying council tax etc. So no, actually they're not doing the same crimes.

Ask anyone and they'd say they prefer that the most dangerous criminals (almost exclusively men) were prioritised for the most secure facilities. I mean, unless you ask the rapists and violent assaulters and their sympathisers themselves of course.

OPs suggestion is women only in prison for murder. So let's say local bully girl smashes a glass and slashes your face. You are scarred for life but she shouldn't go to prison or a group of teenagers break in to your house, smash everything they don't steal. The males go to prison but not the females. How do you justify that.

Ok. I know who I'd prefer to be given early release if I had the choice. I'll give you a hint, it's the female prisoners who aren't likely to hurt anyone else.

Absolutely brilliant idea. Loads of women who are imprisoned for non-violent crimes have dependent children too, so this would be of huge benefit to the children too.

They’re letting the blokes out early though now so why should women have to serve more of their sentence?

Makes perfect sense to me

vert, very few women belong in prison. Literally the tiny handful who commit murder. Absolutely no others
