We don’t know the motivation for the attack in Berlin. But LGBTQ people are scared for a reason. Because of actual violence.

ill-informed speculation and sneery comments about trans people and trans allies feeds the narrative that it’s ok to treat trans people as less-than.

You've made it all about trans people - three 'trans' in just one sentence!

Another example of how the T overshadows the LGB, to which it was added to create an acronym and a 'community' with no rational basis.

RIP to whoever it was who died, and whatever the motivation was.

QuantumQuibbler · 26/07/2026 11:14

Women villifying vulnerable people is not good.

AngleofRepose · 26/07/2026 11:12

Remember: Women Are Responsible For Everything That Is Bad (And Men Get To Decide What Is Bad)

If we just agree to that and shut up, everything will go back to normal. Easy.

Nevermind. I'm heading out to the garden, where at least the world still makes sense.

So your saying, the attack happened because women standing up for their rights are using the wrong tone.

People were seriously injured and at least one person has been killed and you're coming on here and using this tragedy as an excuse to whine about hurty words.

Are You Fucking Serious or what. 🤬

I trust you've posted this comment on all the Islamist chat boards you can find

Thanks charming chappie, I'm going to be judgy now and say what an absolute mess he was, I'm not surprised he hid his face, I'd be ashamed of myself if I went out in public dressed like that as well. Where's your pride man. 🤢
I look forward to the video Mr Menno is going to do about his experience 😁

Was that his attempt at a Niqab.

Wowsers straight into the intersectional solidarity minefield.

Women are also scared for a reason.

Because of "actual violence"

Lalgarh · 26/07/2026 10:45

This is admirable "official line" cautioning.

Not sure why you described the description as sneering. It seemed qualitatively different to the usual marching solidarity attendees at progressive causes and determinedly retro

Trans pride being lauded as biggest trans event ever

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgv1v084j0o

The organisers asked the Socialist workers party not to attend because of their abusive reputation and aggressive organisation tactics

https://www.attitude.co.uk/news/london-trans-pride-asks-socialist-workers-party-not-to-attend-529189/

I saw what must have been the aftermath of the march that seemed quite standard students. Or rather standard 2000s students. Lots of girls with cardboard handmade trans rights are human rights signs and cod bondage harness type stuff.
No SWP placards littered around

Dozens of people are seen gathered in the background and foreground at the march. A banner is held up by some people in the middle of the photo that reads "Trans joy, trans power, trans rage"

Thousands attend London Trans+ Pride 2026 march

The march takes place against a political backdrop that organisers described as "stark".

I was counting the seconds before someone tried to lay that Berlin attack at our door.

I was counting the seconds till the Berlin attack was framed as transphobic.

RIP to the person who was killed, and sympathy to the injured and everybody affected.

Hawksie · 26/07/2026 10:28

The Berlin attack suspect is being reported as a known to be an islamic terrorist is HE not?

Unsure how that correlates to women's rights at all ...

Pure, transphobic speculation.

Meanwhile, in Berlin....

What about Berlin? If you've got a point to make, make it.
Was it women's rights campaigners that carried out that horrendous attack?

QuantumQuibbler · 26/07/2026 10:04

SodThisHeadache · 26/07/2026 07:23

@Hawksie

I agree. I think it's highly likely it was censored for general online viewing, and also highly likely that, given what we have all seen of TRA messaging, that there was aggression and threats.

I also think it's highly likely, given the GLP wanting to stay in the good books of the cash cow that is trans people, that they will have found it hard to say no, and therefore they will have failed to stop these violent images being included.

Hawksie · 26/07/2026 07:10

I don't think all the quilt panels are online, I know people who made some (several) and only possibly two of them are online - yes I clicked through every single quilt panel last night and nope they aren't there.

I don't know how aggressive those panels will have been but I do suspect some of them maybe were censored from the online version but are on the actual quilt.

I think possible two out of thirty odd panels may have made it on judging my names but the vast majority certainly didn't.

MashaPav · 25/07/2026 21:54

Free speech, I thought far righters/transohobes enjoyed that?

Ah you say that, but I was assured by GLP, in written communications, that there would be no violent or threatening words or imagery on the quilt. So they seemed a little more worried about how that looks (and a little less worried about freedom of speech) than you do. They must be right wing then, eh?

nbartist · 25/07/2026 22:04

MyThreeWords · 25/07/2026 19:18

This sounds like something completely harmless. Bitterness and ridicule about it doesn't really look very good.

Indeed! My best friend contributed a panel arranged by our local community and I love seeing all the work that has gone into the quilt as a whole

It seems that they went for live action to convey the, now traditional, threats of violence:

Perhaps the people carrying it fell over and were suffocated under its weight. Isn't it about 500m long?
If we do see it I will be checking on their assurance that no threatening words or images were allowed to be sewn onto it.

If you look at the transpride hashtag on social media you can see it.

It's 96 metres long apparently.

It looks fine - it's supposed to be "amateur", the point is it's made by members of the community.

What exactly were you waiting with baited breath for here?

Bated, not baited. It’s not fishing.

Oops, beaten to it.

nauticant · 25/07/2026 20:31

SodThisHeadache · 25/07/2026 19:18

No making up in heads was required - have you seen what BashBack - who GLP has supported has said? Did you look at the picture I linked? Are you not aware of what violent threats and imagery are put on posters whenever there's a joyful trans celebration?

Yes, this happened today exactly as planned. That's why I said to look at the transpride hashtag if you wanted to see it.

The rest of your comments just sound spiteful. Sorry the scenarios you made up in your heads didn't come to pass.

Well, that was unnecessary! I haven't said anything spiteful. Just because you're looking for offence, doesn't mean there is any. Take a look inside yourself before you start blaming other people for imaginary offence.

I don't look at hashtags because I'm not on social media.
