Today's the day but I can't find anything in the media. Anyone know anything?

So you condemn all trans people, as a precaution?

Trans people are not particularly visible in the media or fully represented, even on issues that directly affect them.

Of course they are visible in the media 🙄

They (trans identifying males) are very often called on to comment on issues that affect women, though women’s views are not sought. Trans identifying people are extremely visible, pandered to at every opportunity by sections of the media such as the BBC and Guardian, unfortunately.

Exactly, or did I dream all those Women's Hour episodes where they wouldn't get an actual woman on to talk but instead got a man in a dress.

Neither are women.

No, we condemn male people in female people's spaces, services and sports, however those male people like to present.
I would have thought that was obvious by now.

I condemn islamophobia
I would condemn any Muslim who wilfully harms others

I condemn transphobia
I would condemn any trans person who wilfully harms others

Do you accept that a social movement that seeks to remove women (in the original female sense)'s legal rights and legal and social recognition as a distinct and meaningful group in our own right, that seeks to underply the significance of our sex in the explotation, marginalisation and abuse we face and to redefine us based on feelings and stereotypes regardless of how we may see ourselves and understand our own lives, experiences and needs, and that uses aggressive direct action to promote its aims, is willfully harming women?

FlirtsWithRhinos · 26/07/2026 12:36

Oh, and on "managing the practicalities", there is no way one can believe that trans people have something real in common with the opposite sex that others do not, something that makes them actually, empirically more like the opposite sex than anyone else of their actual sex is, without adding to the simple reality of sex some layer of "part of being a man is that you think/feel a certain way so if you think/feel the wrong way you are not really a proper man, maybe actually even a woman" or vice versa.

So any "managing the practicalities" that assumes some degree of accepting how a person feels makes them actually more like the opposite sex than other people are and therefore that sometimes it's ok to expect that they be treated as if they are that sex is always going to be an intrinsically sexist and offensive act.

Keeping sex (legal and social) as just simply sex but adding more gender neutral facilities and workign towards less gendered everyday language (ie society accomodating trans people's practical needs with the position of "you don't feel like others of your sex, fair enough, but you aren't actually any closer to the opposite sex than anyone else is") is probably the most reasonable practical position to take.

HTH.

As this study from Oxford University makes clear, transwomen are more likely to commit murder than to be murdered in the UK.

It's a common misconception that transwomen are vulnerable, but the fact is that crimes against trans people have fallen drastically since 2023, now the police have finally grasped that misgendering isn't actually a crime.

https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=6182901
Abstract
Transgender people are often portrayed as especially vulnerable to violence, but estimating victimization rates is difficult because reliable population denominators are lacking. This paper proposes an alternative approach, comparing the ratio of transgender homicide victims to perpetrators. It analyzes all homicides involving transgender people in Britain from 2000 to 2025. Victims were outnumbered by perpetrators, even excluding those who declared a transgender identity after imprisonment. Almost all cases involved natal males identifying as transwomen. The victim-perpetrator ratio among these individuals closely resembles that for males overall and differs markedly from that for females. BBC News published more than four times as many articles on transgender victims as on perpetrators, contributing to perceptions of exceptional vulnerability.

Why “women”? Are we supposed to “be kind always”? We’ve just been underwhelmed by a fabric item at a parade. Who tf cares?

"underwhelmed by a fabric item at a parade" 😂

QuantumQuibbler · 26/07/2026 11:27

How does a trans pride event, and a quilt, harm women?

Trans people exist, and always have done.

People may agree or disagree about how to manage the practicalities, but that is no excuse to get exercised about trans people getting together in a peaceful gathering and having their own say.

I don’t think the placards calling for specific women to be decapitated or about killing terfs were very peaceful.

And if LGB people who prioritise sex over gender identity want to get together in a peaceful gathering & have our own say, there’s no excuse for the T to get exercised about that? Or do you disagree?

Abdul B.
Sure sounds like a FWR regular.
Obviously we should take the blame.

#sarcasm

But seriously, attacks like the one in Berlin are utterly despicable. I hope Abdul B is caught and has the book thrown at him (and for the absence of doubt, I'd feel the same if the attacker was a far right white supremacist).

EmpressaurusKitty · 26/07/2026 12:11

Did an image of the nice placard calling for the Queen & JK Rowling to be decapitated make it onto the quilt?

You know who else has very definitely always been around forever? Female people.

So do you take take the same view when it comes to women (in the original female sense) coming together to talk about our own needs and rights?

Do you, for example, condemn the trans identifying men who try to drown out Feminist events with loudspeakers, hammer on windows, play "if you see a TERF, punch her in the fucking face" on repeat at women meeting up? Do you approve of orchestrated pile-ons to shame venues into cancelling Feminist events or even just cancelling apearances or art by women known to have Feminist views?

And of course, Genderism is a fundamentally sexist movement that seeks to degrade and dehumanise female people by removing our rights, our history and even our own name, turning the realities of our lives into just a metaphor for some men's feelings.

Do you support other anti-rights movements or just the ones that hurt women?

We don’t know the motivation for the attack in Berlin. But LGBTQ people are scared for a reason. Because of actual violence.

ill-informed speculation and sneery comments about trans people and trans allies feeds the narrative that it’s ok to treat trans people as less-than.

We do now know the motivation.

Main suspect still in the run named as "Abdul B". Described by Berlin plod as "a member of the Islamist scene" (that description makes them sound like a niche kink) who had been bragging for some time of wanting to attack Christopher Street Day, and had been in custody since May on suspicion of planning something but reluctantly let go of as the mellee of jihadists was so vast they had to attend to other threats

I find it so telling that the two posters who've mentioned the Berlin attack have not felt able to start their own thread about it on this board - which posters would support and commiserate with the victims. All the victims.

Instead, they have chosen to use this heinous attack to derail an existing thread purely to take a pop at women.

It demonstrates a lot.

GreyskySexRealistsky · 26/07/2026 11:22

QuantumQuibbler · 26/07/2026 11:14

Women villifying vulnerable people is not good.

You know it was a MAN who committed this attack - the attack that YOU brought up on this thread - right?

But you're here having a go at women, and presumably non-Islamist women.

Your thinking is muddled, to put it politely.

Women villifying vulnerable people is not good.

Men larping as women who have persuaded every public body, the government, the arts, the media, charities, the arts, the finance and legal sectors are not intrinsically "vulnerable"

there are indeed some vulnerable trans people - they are generally the young women embarking on life changing medical treatments with poor evidence of success
